Yes, effectively the rims were close to 'free' as it were.

And yes has the boot spoiler.

I had a sapphire black 3 series with black leather a while ago and loved it to bits, but like yourself i just wouldnt have the time to keep another black car to the standard it needs :-(
Seen the following online:-

54reg 46k for £21k
05reg 71k for £18k
05reg 64k for £18k
54reg 44k for £21k
55reg 38k for £23k
54reg 47k for £22k.

These are asking prices how much lower than the asking price can you go in at without being asked to leave?

Online as in BMW's Approved used site or online as in autotrader?

Its always tricky because they may well already have their car discounted already. Mine was down £2000 off the original sticker price and they knocked a further £2K off after that. The problem is catching them when they've decided to pull the rip cord on a car, as opposed to holding tight for a price. I looked at an 07 335d coupe down from £31K to £28.5. I offered them £28K and they wouldnt take it. That was in may, and its now down to £26K......

I would go in, let them know if you can agree a price you will buy it now, and tell the guy you want a deal on the car and whats his best price. If there are other similar cars cheaper in other dealers let him know that and that you really dont mind travelling to get the right car, if he cant agree a price with you. Make all that clear and sit back....

Yes those are all BMW AUC - I guess A.Trader would be cheaper again but have not really looked.

The finance deals BMW offer are dire 10.9% on the HP and >10.9% for their PCP....

Yeah i went for an AUC to get the warranty - i've had about £300 of spend so far all of which has been covered by the warranty. Leccy window switch problem will be next to be claimed.

They are negotiable on their finance rates though, so squeeze on that if you're interested.

An easy way to do that is to quote the apr you can get on those other loans and see if they can match / beat it.

With a car like this is it better to go for a BMW Select policy (to guarentee max depn) or HP?

If I were to go PCP I'd pay the difference between the PCP & HP into a savings account ready to go.

I had a look for the 330d's as well and they dont represent as good value as the 535d i.e. they have only lost £10k in a few years while the 535d has lost a good £20k in 3 years.

I went for PCP for a guarantee of the max depreciation i will have. Might be worthwhile in the current climite...

Without sounding rude you bought yours for £23k what was the PCP monthly & GFV & annual milage. That would give me a very good benchmark.

I've emailed you the details.

The only caveat on the validity of those figures now would be that the final value figures may have dropped as there was a sept review of these by BMW.

Thanks - I'll check them tonight.

Given when you bought vs now & falling prices It might be the case that the £18k one will cost the same as what you are paying for a £23k!

Still you have to do the best deal at the time.

Yes, i would agree. You know the details of mine anyway, but i'd expect it to be several thousand less now in a dealers, but as you say, when i bought mine it was the cheapest listed in all of the UK on BMWs approved used site, so it seemed good value.

On the plus side, whilst the 535d has certainly dropped, i estimate my x5 would have dropped about £8K-10K in the same period based on prices of similar on the AUC site and working back by £5K for their gross margin.

An 08/57 535D Auto Met Black, Leather, Media and visability pack, upgraded wheels with approx 5k miles trades at approx 28K. There was one being sold privately on PH for 33k. Cost new over 47K. Thats 20K depreciation in 9 months!

You're comparing retail against trade though, a £47K 535d could be bought for £43K so thats maybe a £15K drop on the car, though its still steep.

Theres an 08 one on pistonheads for £31999 with all the required toys.

Depends on budget though doesnt it.

A HP over 5 years on a £24k car is £484pcm no deposit & clearly no baloon at the end.

A HP over 5 years on a £31k car is £652pcm thats a fair bit more.

Clearly budget is key.

However I wonder what the difference in PCP would be on a £31k car for 3 yrs vs a 3/4 year old one at say £20k?

Thats the bottom line. Everyone has a budget the want spend and an extra £150 a month adds up.

Would be worth checking - i bought a new 535d last year on a PCP deal for the same price as a same spec new 530d and also the same price as a year old 535d both on PCP deals with same deposit.

I have been also thinking of getting one as the "family car" so had a look at this post....

Wow what a lot of questions!

Why not simply go with your wife and drive one and see if you like it, then see whats available within your price range.

Planning to this weekend. Given I can find a BMW dealer near Reading which has used stock - the Mrs will be away though so not ideal.

Just to throw in a cat amongst the pigeons...

Consider testing an SE with dynamic drive. All the handling around bends and I believe a slightly less sporty stiff suspension. This is of course a consideration for your other half and potential future mini me's who might like a smoother ride! Cheaper too.

hmm - The only thing about the SE is I dont like the SE's alloys and they certainly dont look as agressive.

How much cheaper are they like for like? I know new there is a gap of £3k but 2nd hand will errode that somewhat
