DONT fall into the trap of thinking its 80% of an M5 for a fraction of the cost. I made just that mistake at with the e39 540 instead of e39 M5. They are chalk and cheese and I only kept the 540 for 3 months before getting an e60 m5.
DO buy the 550 for its own merits and if you have this state of mind you will love it.

Wise words. DO buy the 550 for its own merits and if you have this state of mind you will love it.

Didnt like to say it myself.

V996 - if you are betting on it dropping surely day by day the odds offered are getting smaller.
i.e. Dow Jones closed down 7% and Asia down 9% - so before the FTSE opens could you even be able to find someone willing to let you bet the market will fall?
Is the principle not, borrow shares, sell them, watch them drop, buy them back cheaper, return them to owner and keep the profit?i.e. Dow Jones closed down 7% and Asia down 9% - so before the FTSE opens could you even be able to find someone willing to let you bet the market will fall?

Straight Eight have got an '07 plate Manual, with 20" Schnitzers
Looks the business in Carbon Black, but £34k?? I think they'll
have it sitting in the showroom for a while yet
That's £5k over AUC rates.Looks the business in Carbon Black, but £34k?? I think they'll

I'm very, very tempted.
I had no idea they were going for so little now!
However, if the criteria is: saloon; V8; auto; petrol (and presumably most power and torque - this is PH after all )
Then it's got to be sidelined by an XJR.
The Jaguar has substantially more power and torque as well as having 'added lightness'.
And - most importantly in this comparison - doesn't look like Ann Widdecombe in the morning after a rough night on the town.......

(a) its a fairly naff spec (it only has business nav which is naff rather than nav pro) and very few other extras.
But it has the engine!! I'm coming out of a 911 which doesn't even have a glovebox, mate.
(b) Its heading towards four years old
So? 13,000 miles and six years of warranty left!
(c) It still has a long way to drop
Hmmm, maybe, but it's a lot of car for £22k. And it will be a keeper.
(d) A 535d can be bought for less and will cost less to run
Come on, a diesel? Barf. V8 woofle, please.
(e) A 530d can be bought for less and will be easier sold
Ditto.
(f) A 530i can be bought for less and is still a very nice petrol car without the starship running costs and 'snow off a ditch' depreciation curve
Ain't no starship!! Cheap warranty, only group 17 insurance, a service every 18,000 miles?! Heavy on fuel sure, buy hey.
I'm sold, frankly.
How are you coming up with 6 years of warranty left? One year will come standard with it, expect to pay £1000 a year to continue the BMW warranty. But it has the engine!! I'm coming out of a 911 which doesn't even have a glovebox, mate.

If its a keeper then yes, if thats your bag. I change my cars too often and that would be one of those cars that you'd be more popular if you had AIDS come resale time.
I can see how it would have appeal to a limited market.
For non M cars it's about £500 ish. Big attraction.
I've just declined their kind invitation to renew.
