Aye - probably psychological smile but certainly seems 'tighter' in the road hold, and revs more responsive for sure. Guessing thats a different map for engine or the like, but could affect traction?
Which button are you pressing? Im assuming its traction control in which case it will probably affect the handling a bit as it will allow the rear wheels to slip slightly more before cutting in, which may make it feel like its handling differently. I'm not sure if it affects the engine mapping or not though, not read anything to suggest that on the 1 series forums (www.babybmw.net and www.1addicts.com) but may be wrong.

I now have 2 cars to choose from, both on a 2 year lease :

120d Msport in LeMans blue with 18" alloys

118d Msport in Alpine white with sun protection glass & 18" alloys

Overall including Co Car tax + difference in lease costs the 118d works out £95 / month cheaper.

Is the 118d much different in performance ? I know I should test drive one but I need to make decision tomorrow.

I'd take the 118d in white, and have an extra holiday with the £1,140 saving per year !...

I won't go on but I've posted my opinion elsewhere here. Most disappointing car I've owned and expensive too.

Before you buy check what else you can get for the same money.

Well I have a 120d M-sport coming next week smile

After test driving plenty of cars, it purely came down to which car I enjoyed driving the most.

I have been a VAG man for years, but the Scirroco left me cold. It was quick, but in reality I have other cars to travel quickly in. The rear seating area is IMHO not really suitable for small kids due to the high window line / dark interior etc . As it was, the BMW easily felt the best car.

As I'm contract hiring, purchase price doesn't matter, as long as the monthly payments stack up. As it turned out a 120d M-sport is the same as a Scirroco & less than a Golf GTI. This cobined with the rear wheel drive chassis + good economy meant it was a no-brainer for me.

Depending on how well I get on with the 120d, I might also get a 123d when the Audi goes next year.

I am picking up my 123d 3 door in 10 days, can't wait. Only done 2500 miles and £10.5k off what it would of cost new all spec'd up. For a daily car it fits the bill perfectly.
