I just wanted something for a fast road setup, i don't even do track days any more so the worst hammering i ever give the brakes is Brecon Beacons, the Alps, the 'Ring, etc.

Did you manage to get them fitted today Pete, or didn't you recover enough from the SAS dinner to face getting out the spanners? smile
I'd say Pete was still suffering somewhat, as Ive heard a story over the weekend about forgetting to connect a brake line (left completely dangling in fresh air) and the mistake only being realised when starting the brake bleeding stage. Is that true Pete? biggrin

Good to meet you at last, was wondering where you'd run off to.

Still haven't sorted the pics yet, but here's a couple of teasers:

They look amazing!

Wondering if they could be adapted for the E39 M5??

They require 17" wheels according to BMW so i don't see why you couldn't adapt the calipers at least, not sure about the discs but you could probably use the standard discs couldn't you?

Bog standard E39 M5 discs are 7mm larger in diameter and a whooping 8mm thicker than these "upgraded" calipers so highly unlikely they will fit even with adaption.
Also it's not just the case that because they are 6 pots that they WILL be better than a single pot caliper, you need to calculate the total piston diameters, the ratio to the master cylinder etc and then compare them with whats already fitted (a single pot with a large piston could equal or exceed a 6 pot with small pistons).
Any idea what the piston diameters are of the new calipers (and stock)? Pad area sizes (and stock)? Are the calipers alloy or steel construction?
This is suitable for a 1 and probably some 3 series as was mentioned by others but a 5 series will probably be too much for them and possibly a retrograde step for some cars.
Good price package though for suitable cars.

Stuff
Definitely more piston area than stock, and the pads are a little over twice the area of the stock ones. The new brakes feel powerful, have much more progression, build up less heat, and i haven't actually been able to induce the ABS yet since fitting the new brakes, whereas in these slippery conditions the ABS used to kick in regularly with the stock brakes, especially over manhole covers and so on.

I inquired at BMW about these for my 335i - they said that they don't "do them" for the 335i. I found that very strange - anyone heard otherwise?

They do fit, unsure why BMW claim otherwise.

Was there any weight difference compared with the standard callipers? As that was one of the main advantages of an AP Racing kit I've had fitted previously, it notably helped to liven up the steering feel due to less un-sprung weight.

To save hi-jacking this thread, have a read through the thread I've posted below which was posted on the subject no so long ago; it may help you to start understanding the principle of un-sprung mass a little further.

they do look the bizz, wouldn't mine seeing if they'd go on a E36 M3, anyone know the dimensions for the discs and if a e90 caliper will go on a e36? idea
