Looking at these myself, almost exactly what I'm after is being talked about here.

Seen this one on auto trader, probs a little out of my price range and the minute. May have been posted before but I don't know, looks good tho.

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/BMW+...

Sorry, don't know how to make that clicky thing.
Add carver and a manual box to that and it is perfect. Absolutely perfect. One, if not THE best colour combination.
That¡¦s great value in my eyes.

The missus is letting me choose the spec, as she doesn¡¦t care, as long as it¡¦s in sterling grey!! If it was grey, I¡¦d buy it tomorrow

Tis a nice car, not far from me. Good colour combo, good spec, and good price!
But I think titanium silver with red is nicer... black can hide too many of this cars lines I feel smile

Quite a fan of maldives too.

The one I test drove was silver with red leather - i felt it looked a little bit too flash for my liking. It was nice, but flash.

Quite strange that it has to be grey Stevo, as most people say 'ahh, just another grey one' whereas I looked for grey with black leather as I agreed to a certain extent about black hiding the lines. I still get pangs of envy when I see a perfectly clean one in black - but perhaps my envy comes down to the 108 star spoke wheels, they are the ones i want!

A pal of mine just picked up an 03 2.5i SE in grey with red leather - not keen on that combination and the dash etc and surround is a light grey.

Aye, it's a very nice looking motor. Always liked black with red leather but I understand what your saying about the lines.

Just looking on the Z4 forum earlier, the autos and SMG (whatever it is), isn't exactly well thought of.

Out of curosity, never had an auto or anything other than a normal manual, do things not get very expensive if something goes t1ts up? Ie, new cluth on a ssg which I understand is electric?!

Yep, she wants the darker grey colour. I think it’s a nice shade, but it’s definitely one of the more common (although not necessarily the best priced!!)

At least I get to pick the rest of the spec.

I like Titanium and Silver Grey ones, I agree silver can be a tad too flash maybe... I guess beggars can't be choosers so I'll get whatever I can really...

I've seen those light grey interiors with red leather. Not sure myself, maybe it'd be too light. I like a darker interior myself...

I think the auto and smg are well thought of by those who own them... just as with any car you sit wanting to think you got the best one so anything else can't be as good.

The SMG is just a manual box with a robot sat on the side that does the clutch and gearshift. It will be more expensive to fix vs a manual, just like an auto box, but I doubt hugely expensive... the manual box seems pretty damn tough, the SMG's don't seem to break from what I've read/heard, and they use the same clutch afaik, so all good smile

I rekon any of them are great, just personally I couldn't live with a pure auto in this kinda car.

I couldn't live with any sort of auto - well, of the ones I've tried, for a fun car you can't beat a manual. I didn't even like the DSG box in my mates A3 2.0T, very impressive don't get me wrong, but boring!

Pah, silver's fastest biggrin

But I started looking for a grey one but quickly changed my mind to silver. Would've loved the yellow/bronze colour though. Couldn't stand Maldives blue.

I quite like the Phoenix Yellow on some of the facelift models.

That 3.0Si Roadster on the PH classifieds looks really good... just a tad out of budget though smile

For me the black or sterling grey are the best pre-facelift colours by far. But black only looks good when clean and keeping it clean is too much effort. So I went for grey and am very happy with it.

I have seen more silvers and blacks than I have grey but I think they are all as common as each other. Remember the pre-facelift had only a few colours to pick so you'd expect many more blacks, greys and silvers than any other.

Just spotted this one, thoughts please?

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/BMW+...

May have a look after me hols if available? Don't think I've seen alot in this colour on the road, I'd love on in that nice, not dark, not light BMW Blue (probs has a proper name but I know what I mean) tho.

Edit - That'll be Interlagos Blue Metallic then!

Interlagos Metallic is nice, but I think it was only available as a standard colour on the facelift models.

They do look pretty damn good in it, as I test drove a 2.5Si in that colour. Was very nice all round, just I wasn't sure on non-leccy memory seats and the 2.5Si being a bit down on torque vs the 3.0...
The colour though cloud9

Wind deflector.
Cruise control.
Not sure I can see the steering wheel controls, but it does say it has them.
Sat nav too.

There have been a few like this around, one was over in Merseyside when I started looking in bronze met with ellipsoids and almost all the kit, for £9000 and average miles on an 03. Took a while to go too.

There are cheap well specced ones out there, it's just waiting for them to pop up nearby.

I hate to think what ours is worth now. 60k mile '53 3.0 with red leather, cruise, factory aerokit, Style 108's and Bluetooth.

Suspect it will be less than the £13k it cost back in May (Although they Ins 2'd it, new disc+pads all round + brake fluid AND coolant, so thats what, £1500 worht?)! Oh well, it was an AUC and you never buy cars as an investments. Seemed like a good deal at the time.

Probably £9-10k.

Deflector is an easy fit. Cruise control neither here nor there and very easily retrofitted.

Looks good to me.

If it helps (although I guess it won’t so apologies in advance!), I’m looking at an approved used tomorrow:

38k miles (53 plate)
2.5l Auto with cruise
Black heated and electric leather
Parking assist
Auto xenons
17inch 8 twin spokes
extra storage

list is £10,990

I know people are going to say it’s overpriced at 11k, but am hoping it’s either just had it’s Insp 1, or it’s dues in the next 3,000 miles as BMW will do it before they sell it (not sure how good a job they’ll do though if it’s “free”).

Also, the standard Approved Used warranty is 12months BMW if I’m not mistaken. That’s got to be worth something…

That's not bad, it has the electric leathers and xenons, so is much the same spec as any 3.0 without upgraded alloys.

If you can get it serviced up and haggle it down to say £10250 with a years warranty, and if you don't care about the 40bhp deficit, then it won't be bad value I guess.

Used approved 3.0i SE's in the same specs I'm seeing for £11,000 are about £12,500 at a good used approved, but as said, they won't have the same 12 month warranty in the package etc anyway.

Ultimately, this thread shows that the 'right' price doesn't exist, prices are all over, they look to have gone from £17,500 to £10,500 in a year. I honestly don't see that at say £5,000 next year, so whatever happens, you are not as exposed as those who had them when they still had alot to lose... of course thats because they are cheaper... but I have a *feeling* that in two years they won't have lost much more than another 25% which is damn good going... smile

Unless the whole lot (economy) goes fully tits up, but my Z4 residuals will be the last thing I will be worrying about then biggrin

There is one thing putting me of though (someone correct me if I’m wrong here, but sure I read it late last night!)

The 2.5 and 3.0 have the same co2 output, so will have high road tax next year. Add to that, the (pre face lift) manuals will be £300 per year, with the autos (3.0 AND 2.5) slipping into the top band and being £400 per year!!!!

Might have to be the 3.0l manual then to save the planet! That’s:

3.0l manual 32k miles
05 reg
Black, elec, heated leather M sports seats
18inch ellipsods
Tracker
Extra storage
6CD changer
6months warranty

All for £13,500

Hmmm, I think Parkers website is showing not that much increase...

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/road-tax/?deriv=3304...

£245 after April 2010, not a huge amount.

Over 225g/km you will get the full £435 odd road tax though.

I'd not let another £35 a year over the next two years put me off a 3.0 Z4 vs a 2.5 Z4 anyway...
