335d vs 330d - Question for dxb335d
Discussion
Just had a look on superchips.co.uk.
335d standard - 530NM from 1800-3300rpm. Drops off to 475NM at 4000rpm
http://www.superchips.co.uk/curves/335d286bhp.pdf
330d remap - 530NM from 2300-3300rpm. Drops off to 475NM at 4000rpm

Answer - not a huge amount in it. Low end 335d wins easily, flat out I suspect it would be marginal between the two. So all round, I'd declare the 335d the winner.
Of course a remapped 535d produces 590NM from 1750-3500rpm so would walk away from either of the other options.

Sorry Neil but I am genuinely interested in his response.
Thanks noumenon, I'm wondering what real world difference there would be if both cars were rolling at say 20mph and took it upto say 100mph.
Does the 335d leave the 330d for dead or is it a car length or two?

I think the OP is asking what the difference would be between a remapped 335d and 330d. To put it into DXB speak I would say it would be around a 0.8sec over the 1/4 mile (13.2 v 14.0secs), might not sound a lot but it's quite a few car lengths.
Jules.
Well a remapped 335d to whatever ft/lbs torqure dxb335d has vs remapped 330d to 290bhp 500ft / lbs torque.Jules.
I'm not so interested in the 1/4 as that includes a standing start, I'm more interested in a rolling race - where the 335d has the supposed advantage over other cars.

Hi shamrock.
A re-mapped 330d will give close to stock 335d perfomance, i dont think it will beat it though. Maybe i could be proved wrong?
I have been a passenger in a re-mapped 330d, it went very well.
Re-mapped 335d compared to re-mapped 330d. The 335d will have an even bigger advantage.
Why is it that your interested?
thanks

Ant from anty&pete.co.uk and www.speedreligion has got 320bhp from his 320d with a remap, straight through exhaust and better intake.
He had the twin turbo and didn't get on with it, nothing wrong with the engine but he prefers a manual box.
That was the older 330d, would like to see what the new one can do, the 245bhp version.

The new 240bhp 330d engine gives better performace figures than the old 335d.
Deffo the one to have!
Lol what a plonker. If a re-mapped 290bhp 330d cant beat a 335d then a 245bhp certainly cant. Forget BMW figures.Deffo the one to have!
a new 330d which is down significantly on power and torque is not as fast as a stock 335d, let along a mapped one.
I would think a mapped old 330d (290bhp) would be somewhat quicker than the new 245bhp 330d wouldnt you agree, general consensus seems that the remapped old 330d is slower than a stock 335d.
Now tune the new one and i rekon you might see over 300bhp. Now that might be quicker than a stock 335d. But remember the twin turbo lump is pretty good stock, very drivable. Power delivery is superb.
