All this assumes the salesman will tell you the truth.

I dealt with a very nice salesman - who didn't tell the truth.

I asked very specifically about my car and thought I was buying a service manager's car.

First time I showed up at the service dept (window fault), the service manager greeted me with the news that my car was, in fact, an ex-service-loan-car.

Same salesman lied about prices too when I wanted to part-ex a few months later.

He doesn't work there any more.
