Tape player!!

I'm thinking of changing/upgrading the stereo to something abit more modern. How would i go about this, as it's integral with the dash?

I did dig out some old tapes to see if it worked ok, which it does.
I've had the car a year & this is the 1st time i have tried the tape deck.

Question.. where is the fast forward & rewind?? confused

I have a 1999 E39 and the tape player under the flap and the head unit with the display is all one piece I think. You could change it as all the MPG info is on the odo display anyway, but I'm not sure there is a way of resetting the info without the head unit,is there? And I don't know if the steering wheel controls will work with a new CD player...

I'm in the process of researching a replacement head unit. There are a few things you need for all the usual controls.

A head unit I fancy - http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-dva9861ri-i...

Adaptor cable so that it's just plug and play - http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/bmwrover-wiring-ad...

Adaptor cable so that the steering wheel controls work - http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/29627-round-steeri...

2 13cm speakers and tweeters for the front - http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/rainbow-slx230-del...

2 13cm speakers to fit in the back - http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/rainbow-slx230-p-3...

Adaptors needed for speakers - http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/speaker-adaptors-p...

I think this should be a decent improvement over the original stuff. Easy to upgrade to amp and sub etc if that's your bag wink
