Is this worth £349 or is it a glorified valet?

Seems a lot when the car comes with a full valet anyway.

Thanks

I personally wouldn't say so.

I'd rather spend that 350 on someone off detailing world who truly has a passion for detailing.

It's the same stuff you can get on ebay for less than £50 and nowhere near worth £350.

I'd buy the car without the Protect & Seal and then go to a proper detailer to get a good paint correction (if needed) and wax on it.

+1

I would definately use a professional detailer, they would do a much better job IMHO. Have a look at the thread below, I can highly recommend this guy. Well worth the travel if your not local.

Has yet to be proven to last anywhere near as long as it claims, plus with the use of their own top-up product to maintain the warranty, it all sounds like an opportunity to give the dealer a nice profit after paying their valeters to prep and apply it.
Best part of a clear £200 profit, with potentially £250 nearer the mark.

All well and good if thrown in for free to clinch a deal, but if the only offering, it's not worth the £350 "discount" being offered.

Personally, as a detailer, I see no benefit to having this done, as it only promotes a laisé faire attitude towards cleaning the car.
Any wash mitt/sponge/chamois with grit dragged over the paintwork, will have removed the protection over the length of it - especially if you use the typical foreign nationals' hand washes.
Just as much too if you visit the automated car washes with rotary brushes, or the self-service ones with the brush-on soap!
Bottom line, unless you just foam pre-wash, and wash with a proper regime we detailers do, then you'll be lucky if there's anything left to top-up in 3 months, never mind 3-5 years!

Use the Sat/Sun afternoons to destress with a good cleaning and wax/sealant program - you'll easily spend the same £350* over a year or two, but then you have pride of looking at your achievement in keeping it looking like/better than showroom, if done right.

  • Depends on whether you have a pressure washer or not, and one off purchases such as foam lance, proper wash mitt, etc. Even £30 jars of wax will last the best part of 6-12 months, depending on how regularly you apply them.
The bulk of the money will be replacing shampoo, foam, and quick detailer every 3-4 months.
