There's a chap on eBay who will do it for 99p. Think you need the VIN.

Easy. Phone BMW, quote the reg and VIN number (usually need the VIN if the plate has been changed) and you can get a list of it's history (but read out over the phone).
Once you know which dealer(s) did the servicing, you can send the service book to them to be stamped.
If you don't have a service book - you can buy a blank one from BMW.

alternatively, take it to BMW and ask. They told me all about mine spec wise and history wise for free however i suspect you would pay for the print outs

Did you try the number I posted above?

0906 209 0001

They easily helped me, despite my car having been through a plate change as well.

You just need to give them the VIN number is they can't find a match for the plate.

It's recorded as a Bmw 323i Se (4 Door Saloon)

Is this correct?

ETA: The DVLA also have it - so I don't see why BMW can't help?

Thanks for that, BMW UK couldn't be bothered helping, after 3 phone calls nothing happned, anyway after visting my local bmw dealership which have worked on all of my bmw cars but not this one, have helped me out.

Going to ring the dealers on Monday and get them to stamp a new service book.

They have a specific number where pretty much all they do is to advise details on cars for you.....so either you for some reason called a wrong number or this is all BS. Good luck anyway

Well... since we're discussing it...

When I purchase my 645, it had a previous service at Crossflags in Dumfries and when I called them to get a copy of the invoice, they wouldn't release it for data protection reasons! I know the details of the previous owner from the V5 document...

Any ideas on how i might get a copy of the invoice?

Contact the previous owner and politely ask if you could possibly have a copy of the invoice for the service, stating that you want to keep a complete record of the cars service history (Chances are they've probably lost it or thrown it away though).

BMW are not going to release a copy of the actual invoice to you because, although it relates to the car you now own, the invoice is nothing to do with you, it was technically a private contract between themselves and the previous owner.

I work for a car dealership, and we have continual problems with BMW to obtain service history. It is also different from garage to garage. Our phone lines won't allow us to ring the 0906 number, so I have just found out using 0370 505 0160 for there head office is a start. They will then tell you the dates and which garage it was done at.
You then contact the garage, and they will normally confirm over the phone. Sometimes they won't and they quote the 'data' protection act. Despite telling them numerous times that I used to work for the police, and this doesn't actually have anything to do with the data protection act, the customer service people have obviously had more legal training than me.
Most garages will confirm it though. then you have the problem of getting the book stamped. I have had a few garages, that will only stamp a book for a £50 fee. I have had this with many bmw garages and sent many emails to their head office, only to be advised 'it is down to each garages policy'.
I very recently had a bmw garage say they wouldn't stamp a duplicate service book, only an original BMw book, which i can purchase from them for some silly amount (even though 1000's of other garages are fine with it).
We never have this problem with Mercedes or Audi, only ever BMW. all mercedes do is say email us a copy of the log book, and they send me all the service history for the car.
BMW will try to any money they can out of you. Hence the £1 a minute line. I even spoke to a BMW garage who said it's annoying because like us their phones are blocked from ringing it haha

I am selling a BMW 320d touring. When I bought it last year the dealer (not BMW) told me the service history would be held on computer with BMW.

I can't get any interest in the car without the service history so am wondering if you guys who have posted regarding this, have had any success getting history at all?

When I bought my E60 a few years back it had no history but the seller told me it wad serviced by BMW its whole life. I hadn't read this thread but just called a BMW garage to ask if it's possible to get it's history and how I could get it. The guy just pulled it up using the registration number and read it out to me.
