I mentioned this thread in another thread, so I thought I'd do some necromancy and add a couple of points for posterity.

1. I don't know when it happened, but when I went to check the weak washer jet properly, when the weather started to turn, it was actually working fine. So maybe when I checked in summer, due to lack of use and the previous leak, it was just suffering from not being fully pressurised, and/or there was some air left in the system, etc.

2. The washer jet cover did eventually fall off, so I bought a new one from Sytner. They come unpainted, so I bought a can of spraypaint and a can of lacquer from Halfords, and did it myself. This was my first time doing this stuff, and the results were... well, not that great, I have to say. But since it's a small part, and not flush with the adjacent bodywork, and in a part of the car that attracts muck and grime at the best of times, the overall appearance was satisfactory.

Sticks.

Last time I bought one for my Z4 it came painted. Iirc it had to be ordered from Germany. They fitted it for nothing, too, which made up for it being £30. A bit.
