Any reason you can't do a long trip on a Gixer? My personal best was Montpelier on the med. coast of France to Hatfield in Herts, approx 800 miles on a K5 750. I left Montpelier at noon, arrived home at around 3am. The only thing that prevented me from doing it quicker was having to stop every hundred or so miles for fuel.
Nick Sanders circumnavigated the globe on an R1 in 19 days.
