Snetterton was interesting, but ace fun.

Friday was a PITA as I hadn't prepped everything to go, so missed 2 sessions in the morning. Main learning point was don't trust glue to set in new grips like they say on the packaging. Steam was coming out of my ears when I was holding the bar whilst taking it off the paddock stand (1 man band racing), and the bike just fell over right with me holding the left hand hand grip!

Weather in the afternoon was changeable though, so got plenty of laps in on the k3 Racetecs the bike came on. They are hard and not that grippy though, but did give reasonable feel even on dry settings.

Saturday and the changeable forecast remained, so I opted for soft Michelin Pilot Race, with some tread if we had rain. Qualifying was dry and I had a good opportunity to follow Wayne Crossman on his MVP and Larry Halliday on his RSV. Helped me get a great time in and qualify 9 o/a & 4th in class. 2 11.2 for my first time at Snett.

Saturday lunch got very dark so I stuck my new Avon (who) wets in for the race and made the grid with seconds to spare. No drama on parade lap, but plenty of damp track, but no standing water, unlike Fridays practise. Managed an ok start, but managed to bin it on turn 6, the 90 left after the hairpin left. Still don't really know how or why, but my brother who was watching did say I was closely followed into the corner buy a guy an an SP1, so when I lost the rear mid corner, I collected him immediately. Red flag out as he didn't move his bike from trackside. We got recovered and the Lh peg was broken, bar bent, screen and tail unit broken and a few scuffs on the lhs. I was ok, but have a massive bruise scratch on the back of my right calf, that I can't work out got there. Once I knew I'd lost it, I bailed off left & pushed it away with my feet as I put my hands down behind me.

Lucky for me, another red flag in the re-start lead to the race being postponed to Sunday.

Simon (Srob) and his mate Johnny at Nutsmoto (shameless plug, but what a star), helped my by making a new peg/hanger and robbing (with owners consent) a screen from an RGV, which we managed to fettle. If you're at Snett and need help, call Nutsmoto on 01953 607072.

Sat pm/eve spent stripping, cleaning, fixing. Done by 8.

Sunday dawned bright and clear, but 3 races were much later in the day, so the tyre plan for soft tyres still looked ok. First race was dry, but had a few spots of rain. Also, Woolsey Coulter on a smoking (oil not speed) 848 passed me, which made me decide to back off for a few laps till he saw the flags and retired. I lost touch with the quicker guys and finished p10' 6th in class with a best 2 09.5, nearly 2s better than qualifying.

Race 2 was more rainy, but not too bad, but the rear was going off in right handers, so again I dropped back but had a great last few laps dicing with a ZX7R super bike and managed to pass him out of the last corner for p10 again, but to be fair I think he had a machine problem. Best lap was a 2 11.3, 6th in class again.

Race 3 was looking very dark, but I gambled on a slick in the back, on a standard Mille rim. You don't realise the effect of rotating mass on acceleration until you do something like this. I was on the gas earlier as the NTec slick was superb after its 2 races at brands, but down the straights, I was noticeably slower. I was happy to do a best of 2 11.6 getting 6 th overall & 4th in class. A lot less people finished race 3, and you can see fitness/stamina really help, especially after my off Saturday.

I love racing and I love the Mille R. Just wish I had more track/tyre experience. I also love the fact that the marshalls like to see the orange bibs doing well and got very generous applause each race. They really are heros and I will keep making my donations towards their expenses.

Snetterton 300 is a lovely circuit too.

Anglesey will be next, but my prep and spares will be at a higher level there.

Can't wait.

Final huge thanks again to Simon and thanks for dropping by Friday again Terry. Help and support away from home is great.

PH BB spirit is alive and well.

Sounds like great fun, making me miss racing frown!

Glad to hear you weren't injured (too badly) when you came off. Also nice to hear BB members helping each other out.

No worries mate, just pleased you managed to get out again after your off smile

And your cutback move on the fella on the ZX7 out of Murrays (last corner, last lap!) in race 2 was the only thing that got a cheer from the crowd all weekend! May have had something to do with your mad head bobbing, giddyup/celebration trying to outrun him to the line though hehe

it was noticeable then? I'm surprised you couldn't hear me over the bike.

Currently 3rd in the Championship. http://www.hottrax-motorsport.co.uk/points/SBKETC2...

Chuffed to bits, but there's some new entries who are very quick and I'm sure they'll catch me up.

This shows the benefits of getting race finishes through.

Entry confirmed for Anglesey & hoping to get a weekends practise in there, so at least I'll have a clue how to get around the place before I turn up for the race.

Also have plenty of time available to get the bike fettled a bit more and on the basis of results to date, looks like it might pay off too.
