I think Fiat Group should buy them.

Got the money, and used to dealing with the Italian Manufacturing 'issues' biggrin
fiat and yamaha are pretty well tied up

mercedes-benz and ducati are pretty well tied up too, at least the AMG division is. that makes me think that VAG and BMW wont want much to do with it

Daimler Benz. It could add some 'emotion' to their brand portfolio.

I don't think VW buying Duc would spell disaster. Look at what they've done with Lamborghini. They still make bonkers cars, but now they actually work. And some of the VW top brass are bike nuts.

BMW on the other hand would buy a direct competitor for some of their own bikes...
I agree. It seems that VW are the most likely candidate if they can agree on a price. Based on their achievements at Lamborghini it might not be a bad thing. Ducati is on a roll at the moment, with their products at least, so let's just hope that they can keep it up.

Don't think anybody has mentioned Mercedes-Benz, they already sponsor the Ducati Team with the AMG brand. Not suggesting that that is proof enough but I think AMG and Ducati sit well together. Problem is that with an increasingly shrinking market who would want to buy a motorcycle brand???

It won't be VW, given they already tried the bike thing when they bought a large percentage of Suzuki. And that's gone sour. MB or another private equity firm is more likely.

The Chinese wouldn't want it. They're trying to improve the reliability of their bikes

I may be wrong, but i read a year or so back, that large motor companies are taxed/penalised if their product line is deemed to be highly polluting. AMG was mentioned, as accross the brand, most of their vehicles have massive V8 engines, which although very technical engines, are still heavy polluters. Owning a motorcycle brand like Ducati could be seen that the group in general are producing lower emission vehicles in general, by adding the motorcycles to their range, albeit under the Ducati badge. I read that the Aston Martin IQ thing was done for similar reasons. Aston makes loads of high polluters, and so has a token, lower polluter to keep the authorities happy.

I may be wrong, more than likely am, but it was something that I had read.

Keen to add a new tent?
No, looks like it's bigger than a tent - looks like they want to add something big enough to hold a small event in, rather than just to sleep three adults.
Perhaps a medium sized event, else they'd opt for a gazebo.
And only 'temporarily' and 'outdoors'. (Wikipedia, 2012). Available from <http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marquee> [Accessed 16 February 2012]

Yep, and because all the Senior Management at Ducati will have Preferred and/or Sweet Equity they'll get big payouts too...

I don't know how much more leverage you'd get out of a motorcycle company already bought for 1 Bn € !?
