0-100 should be 5.something, 0-60 about 2.9, 70-150 would be a blink smile

The performance figures listed will do nothing for sales of the bike!
Maybe, but I think there is more to it than figures alone. It is different and perhaps more characterful than the japanese bikes out there. Plus isn't there a certain kudos for owning a ducati?

My R1200GSA will get to 60 quicker than that quoted figure.

as good as the Panigale is, I can't help think that the '12 s1000 does evrything that bit better. I even prefer the looks of the beemer.

There's the 'Kudos' in that people know you've paid £2-£13k more over rivals for a pretty similar bike smile.

However, the point is that with the rather nice if a bit peaky (I like peaky smile ) power graph, it really should be going faster than a commuter bike listed at around 70hp!
Note that other places have the 1198 at a smidge over 150hp, so likely they are a bit optimistic - be nice to see it back to back with a S1000RR, however even that doesn't say much really.

0-60 will always be bks really, it will be harder keeping the front down than anything else, 0-100 is a better indicator, but again that will be the top end of 2nd gear, so the grip/wheelie/rider balls plays a huge part, I imagine a better rider would be able to get better times with more favorable conditions... In gear rolling times would give a far better example of the thrust available!

To be honest my old 996 is great fun to ride, I would love a 1198 or this to sit alongside it!

I had a MotoMorini corsaro veloce that had bonkers in gear acceleration. I know its old fashioned but I prefer big twins to have bonkers mid range that you have to manage yourself.

My GSXR1000 will show 103mph in first gear on the clocks, though a little lower in reality no doubt.
The time listed for the Ducati is only a little slower than that for a sports 600 to get to 100mph!

In gear 'roll on' times are massively dependant on the gearing used on the bike.
The 1198 had considerably lower gearing (at least in the early gears) than the BMW and ZX10R, meaning that it no doubt felt 'torquier' (sic), but in reality was just lower geared.

Interesting torque/power curve. My old SP1 also had a very average mid range and a surprising top end power rush, for a twin. It also had very little engine braking. My friends Firestorm & Aprilia Mille both had far more mid range torque. I really like revving out bike engines so I was pretty happy with the SP1, it also comes in handy when you wind the throttle on through a corner. I'm not sure huge mid range torque makes a bike very easy to power through a corner. I am not a talented bike rider, so take all this with a pinch of salt....

So you walk through spilt petrol, get on the bike, fly off down the road and your leg gets set on fire on the over run. biglaugh

Is there any info out there about the electronic suspension? Can you make changes on the dash??

You can change just about everything via the dash - suspension, TC, modes, even the dash's display! Not too complicated either, only took me about five minutes to work out how to turn off the TC. Which is good.

I love this. But I love the 848 as well, so what do I know?

What a lovely bit of kit, I can't wait to try one I just hope it's not too small for my big frame! The trend of modern superbikes becoming smaller doesn't gell with my growing waistline
I am 6'4" and rode a Panigale recently. It is much more comfortable than many previous Ducatis. The bars are quite high and are very wide which makes it easy to turn. It is definitely worth test riding. The brakes are amazing. The performance is more or less in line with the current litre bikes (but yes the BMW and ZX10R are slightly faster). The electronics give you lots of confidence to push harder than you might otherwise. I've only ridden the standard bike so cannot comment on the S versions electircally adjustable suspension, but I like the idea.
