This is long shot, but if anyone has any experience of the below I'd love to hear from them.

While washing the car is turned over the bike just to keep it alive during winter. All was fun and was happy idling when suddenly I started getting a flashi red warning light with "URGENT SERVICE" displaying on the dash. This is not good. I killed the ignition and let it sit for a minute, and then turned it back in again (but didn't fire it up). The flashing red light had turned into a solid red light, and the message now read "SERVICE". The bike isn't due a service, so it all seems a bit odd. I'm going to give my local Aprilia dealer a call tomorrow, but thought I'd ask here to see if anyone knows of what could be causing this?

Check your manual as i think theres a way to interogate the fault codes.
And i see yours is a 2011 model. Has it had the demand sensor recall done?
And opo onto the AF1 forum. Lots of VERY savvy RSV4 bods there

Cheers Bass. I'm going to have a looks at the fault codes later this afternoon (I want to see if it's maybe moisture in the system somewhere or something). I'm not sure if it's had the recall done, I will do some digging. Thanks for the AF1 suggestion.

All sorted. Let it rest for a couple of hours, went out and started it up and the Service light and warning cleared instantly. Seems to be a pretty common problem, possibly due to moisture in the system.

Bass, while you are here I've been looking into the Race ECU that you mentioned on the ther thread. I am running an Akra slip on and I believe the ECU comes with the Akra full system. Do you know if there is much benefit in me getting hold of a race ECU with me just running the slip on?

It does make quite a difference. There's an unlock code that comes with an Aprilia purchased Akra system, either slip on or full. so yes, it is worth it. The ignition and fuelling maps are very different and it makes the bike much sharper. And the standard headers are actually very good and the exhaust valve bolsters the midrange.
as for the race ECU, you have a couple of options. Buy a standard ECU from Ebay and have it reflashed or buy a new race mapped ECU from somewhere like AF1. And the newer maps are a real improvement.
But as a word of caution, you'll need to be friendly with your local Ape mechanic as the ECU needs to be programmed to the bike using the workshop software system. However, if you then have a standard and race ECU both programmed to the bike, you can swop between them freely.
Sadly Aprilia will not release the Akra pipe code unless the pipe was purchased through them so thats a no go.
But in short, yes, it's worth the outlay IMHO and if you don't like it, there'll be no shortage of people who'll take it off your hands.

Cheers dude. Time to do some investigating and make some phone calls I think.

Nice one, all the lads I ride with on the road have upgraded this year, one has a RSV4 Factory like yours, another has the BMW S1000RR another 1198 and a new Fireblade.

RSV4 Factory is my Favourite.
i agree, but everytime i try to go quick on track i find the bike cramped.
don't you find this ? you're taller than me.
