BruceBogtrotter said: On another note : what bikes would people recommend for short arses like me with little legs? I've had (still have one) Moto Guzzis in the past they are good for short legs, I've also got a Kawasaki Zephyr 750, which is the only "normal" jap 750 I've ever found I can reach the floor on. I can ride a hornet ok Some of the "crusers" if you like that kind of thing (beware though that sometimes you can reach the floor easily enough, but you can't reach the gearchange or rear brake). Old British stuff, if you like that sort of thing.

Old British stuff, if you like that sort of thing. Sounds good thanks for that. I learnt and rode comfortably on an XJ6, so don't know why I'm freaked out by a 'normal' bike. I think for a first bike I will try and be comfortable. Thinking along the lines of a Suzuki GS500 also?

Thinking along the lines of a Suzuki GS500 also? I've never ridden one, so can't comment I'm afraid. (An XJ6 to me is a Jaguar car )

Try a new Bonnie too, those aren't as small as the old ones but seem smaller that most jap stuff.

Or an SV650 - Cheap to buy, group 9 insurance, nice V-twin motor, good fun to ride and plenty of them sold, so no problem getting parts.

Got one! Picking it up in a couple of weeks. Went for a lovely MY04 GS 500F, can't wait to get it!

Enjoy In similar news, I passed the Mod2 today so went riding on my SV650 for a couple of hours after. It's so nice being able to ride freely.
