I know they obviously cost more than that to make, but what could you do with them? They'd be too noisey to run anywhere - and that includes being rich enough to hire a track for yourself as tracks only get limited noisey days!
Yes, you could demo them at Mallory for the Festival of 1000 Bikes, and ride up the hill at Goodwood, but I really am struggling to think where else you could run them?! CRT bikes are £500K WSB bikes £250 MOTO 2 rolling chassis £70K BSB £60K-100K MOTO 3 £20K+ Thats what I was comparing them to. CRT bikes are £500K For A s tter, 700K + engines for an ART WSB bikes £350-400K for an Aprillia, Yamaha wanted 500K a peice for it's R1's! MOTO 2 Track Day Spec rolling chassis £70K, Suter chassis your talking 120k + engines BSB £60K-100K for an average one. MOTO 3 £50K plus your Engine, Suspension, Control ECU etc PS the same collector bought both those Ducatis, a UK gentleman with a desmo 990 already amongst other things! and it's already announced that with the sale came certain clauses, one I which was your not allowed to run them!!

I had a little read through the small print too, the bit where the winning bid is subject to vat is a real stinger! It's interesting that you HAVE to keep the bikes for 5 years before you can sell on or "dispose" of them too. The owner is forbidden to put any Philip Morris branding on the bikes too which must be a copyright thing i guess...so stick a Marlboro logo on Casey's bike and they'll take it off you! Amazing ornaments to have though, they'd certainly make a good talking point nailed to your dining room wall!

Thats what I was comparing them to. Yeah, but your list is of current, raceable bikes. These aren't raceable!

Your sofa's fluff to pound exchange rate is far better than mine I found $150 in the road yesterday & felt rich. Got home & checked the exchange rate for Jamaican Dollars & they are worth £1.07 No sodding idea how someone dropped cash & it blew right over the Atlantic on the breeze to reach me though...

Thanks I know, my original comment was referring to a trackday bike. norfolkscooby said: CRT bikes are £500K For A s tter, 700K + engines for an ART WSB bikes £350-400K for an Aprillia, Yamaha wanted 500K a peice for it's R1's! I was quoting from Performance Bikes magazine. And thanks for reenforcing my comment.

You can't use it on a trackday!!!The only thing you could do with it, is demonstration runs probably once or twice a year at stuff like the Goodwood Festival of Speed! You try turning up at a trackday with something that is loud enough to blow the end of the noise testers microphone and see if you're allowed on track

If the guy is rich enough to buy the two then I'm sure they can rent the track out for just his usage. I guess he is just a collector.

I guess he is just a collector. It was a bit tongue in cheek, to be honest. There's loads of clauses mentioned in the sales blurb though, and if they're anything like Ferrari then you'll only be allowed to run at pre-authorised events. I can't find a copy of the conditions of sale though?

According to the "ducati 851/888" forum, a couple of the members went to the auction and apparently a lot of the bikes weren't all they were made out to be.
