Well I survived my first track day today and I think I'm hooked. I was wondering if anybody else here went as well today. I couldn't believe the number of riders falling off. One happened right in front of me. Also, I was really surprised to find myself passing a few track use only bikes. All in all a fantastic day......

It's a great feeling when you do your first track day.
Just out of interest how many went down? And was it in all groups?

Just out of interest how many went down? And was it in all groups? I would say there was some sort of incident in every group and in almost every session throughout the day. The main cause was not allowing the tyres to warm up during the first lap as well as throwing it down the track on right handers, as the circuit was prodominently left handed. I think i need to learn a bit on tyre management as a few people commented on the good effort at the state of my rear tyre for my first trac day. Haha!! I must admit i had the intention of replacing it after anyway. I must day though, the blade was fantastic and was definately helping me pass others with ease.

My one and only experience at Rockingham was that everybody seemed to be crashing left right and centre … mainly on the first few laps of the session on the right hand hairpin.
I had a LARGE moment during the day coming back onto the banking when I hit the transition between flat/banking; I had a massive rear slide and I was convinced I was down. I also had a few instances of loosing traction at the rear which I'm fairly sure wouldn't have happened at another circuit.
My mate also stuffed it into the gravel trap but that was more about loss of concentration.
I've read rumours about Rockingham have comparatively less grip than other circuits.

Both Mitzy and I did a trackday at Rockingham about 2 years ago. I felt it was a bit of a strange place tbh.
The day was run well, but couldn’t really get into it with the garages being separated from the National circuit. I had no issues with grip at all and didn’t actually notice ‘that’ many offs. There certainly wasn’t any major crashes and don’t recall any of the groups being red flagged.
I think it's luck of the draw. I've been to others that have had plenty of stoppages

In fact; if I recall correctly they actually mentioned it in the briefing. Something about car and bike rubber not being compatible and 'marbles' on the track. Who knows!

I just don't like Rockingham. Didn't notice a lack of grip.

Was this the No Limits day ???? I like Rockingham, I'm one of very few amongst my track riding friends that do but what can i say, it has all the corners you need to be a challenge, it is sensitive to tyre pressure and suspension set up as it has a multitude of cornering challenges, including the left infield turn that goes on forever (or not as the case may be when you crash halfway round it as I did !!! ) Glad you had fun out there
