Got up this morning and was going to head to the train station as usual, decided to take the bike instead! :-)
Soon as I hit the M4 I realised I had made the right decision, gridlock! The usual filtering and managed to get to London in decent time.
Lots of bikes out today (and unfortunately scooters), many thanks to the chap on the blue R1 (with the yellow Berik top) for letting me follow him filtering.
No real point to this post, but its days like this that make me happy I ride a bike. Beats being stood on a smelly train crammed in with the other commuters! Really looking forward to heading home now!

The best thing about riding into london is knowing you'll be riding out again soon.

I pick my hours, and on Days like this I really hate having a window seat: shows me what I'm missing. Would not believe the amount of will power I'm havin to use to stay at the office, and not blow of work for a ride. Oh wait - yes you would. . . .

Yep, after considering trading the bike for a jetski a couple of weeks ago, these last two days have been epic. I must say, Town's starting to look postively clean, tidy and Regal ahead of the Jubilympics. Union Jacks/flags everywhere, and even spotted a '77 style silver Routemaster at the top of Whitehall yesterday. Couple of stunning E-types out of hibernation this afternoon too.

They've been polishing hard in some parts and rolling in glitter in others to try to get it looking good yes. However they still haven't sorted out the diabolical surface on quite a lot of the capitals roads though! Two parts of my commute are verging on downright dangerous for motorcycles given the number of potholes, lumps, dropped drain covers, banding etc - Luckily as I've ridden them daily over the past 5 years since I've been working right in central london I know where to ride to avoid the biggest hazards. Despite this I am however looking forward to the ride home today given the weather.

The banding just prior to joining the A13 after blackwall tunnel is a bloody joke!

Having endured the heat and stench of the Circle line the last two evenings I'm seriously considering riding to work next month once my train ticket expires.
Reading to Whitechapel. How bad could it be? I start early (into office 7 - 7:30) so its only getting out of London I'm worried about.

Journey in should be a doddle at that time, but getting out is a fecking nightmare and a half up to and through 'ammersmiff, even on a bike. Just prey the same dullard who tried to drive a 55-seat coach on to the elevated bit of the A4 between the >6'6"< width restriction yesterday doesn't try it again any time soon.

Any idea on rough journey times morning and evening? I have seen how bad the traffic gets frequently. Toss up between two evils in that respect. Stuffy hot tube breathing other peoples BO or battling with the traffic. Neither are particularly enticing!

When I was working in Canary Wharf I used to take the bike on Fridays and nice days. It always felt brilliant, just filtering past the sheep (I am one) was awesome.
The smiles and feeling of freedom.
Biking is so fun!

Best so far is around 45mins, worst has been hour and a half or so. Could probably be done quicker but a) I actually enjoy it and b) want to enjoy it for a long time yet. It's been a bit random lately due to some horticulturists in Chelsea and the lock-down of The Mall whilst the BBC turn it in to the set for a carnival or something. You'd struggle to walk through some parts of the parks, let alone ride it.
