I just had to chime in as the man said I was trying too hard! I might have been trying hard to keep up with you, but in terms of my BP, I just wanted to get across that it was comfy and I wasn't hanging completely off the bike like this chump:

You do tend to go through a phase though where knee-down is the holy grail, then you do it and someone comes past you round the outside making you look foolish and you realise that you've then got something else to chase after in the hunt for perfection.
I think I've seen him riding a black R1 over the Cat n Piddle hehe

If you know the M1 the above is the Hemel (to the left) junction.
There's that great slip road, as if your heading M1 southbound/A414 (the old A10), it's like a huge roundabout and you can get some speed and nice angle. smile

It's a bloody motorway. What's the fun in riding down a slip road getting held up by a couple of cars. Them having to ride 20 miles to get back and do it again?

You will get caught in traffic as Hemel Hempstead is darn sarf so all roads are permanently clogged with traffic.

I don't mean just go there for just that!
If your in the area then look out for it but then I suppose locals would know about it anyway.

The point I'm failing to make is there's places you can practice in the road if you really want to. smile

I get your point but to go round that "needing" your knee down would need a speed of 150+ given how wide those lanes are.

You could get your knee down at any speed but need vs choice are totally separate things

I wasn't advocating getting knee down just getting the bike over.

Are you always this grumpy?

Yes. Stupid bloody trains dawdling along instead of whooshing me back oop North from London Village.

Free wifi is no consolation when I've got a chicken Jali Bhuna waiting for me.

Very well yeah, should be getting in plenty more TDs now, so hopefully catch up again at one soon.

Good stuff. I want to see how all this coaching has helped.

As said above, I seem to have gone backwards, didn't feel the same last month at Cadwell, so I'm not sure if it's me, the bike or just the nature of Cadwell. Got it booked in for a suspension overhaul so hopefully it'll rule that out.

Hahaha in all honesty its not really possible to go all the way on the roads.
'Course it is. This was the day I bought them, and scrubbed them in just before our BB NW ride out part 2.

On the knee down debate, I've always chucked it right over onto the edge of the tyre, it's just my riding style. Not for showing off or trying to get rid of 'chicken strips', just how I ride. No one has the same riding style, so why discount someone else's just because you don't feel it works?

On my first few rides and a trackday, after a really long break because of an illness that nearly killed me (not bad aids, before you ask), I was struggling with my body position. I still lobbed the bike over, but my body was all over the place. This meant that my knee, which I always used as a 'feeler' for how far to go didn't work I suppose.

I was grinding pegs, and toe sliders, which I found bloody unnerving. After a session with the TD instructor I was back to normal and comfortable again. There is a difference between those who just stick their knee out as a lean angle 'stop', and those that just have to get their knee down at whatever cost....The ones that look like deranged chimps.

Ryan, I've said before, there are a cracking set of corners near me that make up a very short circuit. all one way traffic with lots of visibility. You're welcome to come round and we'll just piss about round here for the day. Our peg will make you some dinner and tea too.

Anyway Si, shut the fk up you gimp. wink

Insis Cadwell last week and was st. I quit halfway through the day and won't be going back. It's just too fiddly

Andy. STFU. No smileys on my phone otherwise I'd have done the "fk you" one. snigger.
