No thanks. This. Motorway slow-downs win no friends, is dangerous to the participants and just makes motorbikers look like the obnoxious bellends a lot of people already think we are.

If you want all choice taken away from you then do nothing. If not get off your arse, write to your MEPs, write to your MP, join MAG and participate. European bureaucrats are going to take away all my chioce? I'd best get off my arse and piss people off by riding dangerously slowly down a motorway? No thanks. I'm not getting drawn into anything re: 'dangerously slowly' but evidence from the previous ride in September last year would suggest that there was no more danger than riding at usual motorway speeds and that a majority of other motorists were interested and supportive rather than 'pissed off'. Were you on a ride last year and, if so, did you talk to any motorists before and after? Or are you just regurgitating innacurate press rubbish?

I just read the link you posted above which says they plan to ride at 40Mph down lane 1 and 2 (if I remember correctly) of the motorway.

I don't do group ride outs.
Can I just go to Brussels and throw eggs at people in suits?

Can I just go to Brussels and throw eggs at people in suits? It'd do more good! Go in the car, the knee-jerk reaction will ban cars & free the roads up for us. Or they'll ban eggs...

Just don't blame other people when the bureaucrats bring in ridiculous laws that limit your enjoyment of your bike.

I respect your opinion, but my experience on a very similar ride last year suggests that there is little of the danger you appear to be worried about. You've already decided you're not interested anyway, so why does any of it bother you?

I saw a group of McGregor'd-up BMW riders on the M3 yesterday, they must have started a day early.

I read more into this.
Further to my point earlier British parliament (who will presumably be responsible for putting this into law) are already "highly sceptical" of the proposals put forward by the EU.
So with the UK government already backing you/us, what exactly are you trying to achieve? Perhaps you should take this to Brussels instead?

Well, after reading an article in Bike magazine I decided I had to do something (my RC8 would be hopeless without regearing and a new throttle tube which would be banned under this new legislation) so did the M27/M3 ride, 40-50mph in the inside lane, stretched for bloody miles, lots of car drivers waving and filming, hopefully it will get enough coverage in the media to have an influence (which seems to be the way policy is made these days). Anybody else there??

Who the f k is going to police these new laws? The police are already stretched as it is. And how many coppers are going to be able to tell the difference between a 16T front sprocket and a 15T, and a Brembo aftermarket M/C and one fitted as standard? Hype, hype, hype

Should be good for employment figures then. Think how many inspectors they will need to wiggle out of all the claims they are presented with. Do you think it will make up for the number of job losses from the motorcycle parts industry in the flailing Eurozone economy?

Not if it's a regulation they won't be. EC regulations are law and there is nothing parliament can do about it.

Quite positive reporting of the event on BBC South Today.
Good luck to MAG and their behind the scenes lobbying keeping this balls at arms length.
