Fuel consumption of motorbikes?
Discussion
My K1300GT rarely strays below 50mpg on a 50:50 mix of m-way/fast A and slow/twisty A/B road. I tend not to stray over c 80 on the faster stuff, but don't hang about when it gets more twisty.
Key feature of the bike for me - great range, relatively comfortable riding position, yet monster (straight line) performance when you want it.
Only ride one up mind you, and with minimal luggage.
Certainly beats the cr@p out of the so-called "frugal" hired superminis I have been thrashing in vain on the same journey recently which in real life are only c 15-20% better on mpg than my Honda S2000 was.

...and the larger engine will be revving much lower for a given MPH, my Busa is great on fuel considering the performanve, 50mpg at a steady 90ish MPH, one of the mags tested a Blade against a Er6f recently and as speeds rose, the Er6 was much more thirsty.
My car is claimed to achieve 57mpg but in fact its more thirsty than my old 2.0td as it needs working harder for any given accleration/speed.
Compared to a performance motor bikes are good on mpg, if yiu want to get good mog, look at some of the newer BMWs or the NC700 Honda, which has been designed for good real world mpg, which as WHICH mag found recently, most cars dont achieve apart from on a static dyno..

Get about 55mpg on my carbed SV650, got 120mpg on my old Yamaha YBR125!
Considering their weight and size, 120mpg really should be the figure for most bikes...
Bikes have very poor aerodynamics in comparison to cars, this has a big impact on their fuel use, especially at speed.Considering their weight and size, 120mpg really should be the figure for most bikes...
RSV4 No idea 8-10 litters a session last time out
CBR1000 hmm about 35-40 litters for 4 x 20 min sessions
SXF 350 couldn't tell you
SX 250 i never mix more than 10 litters as if i use all that I'm to tired to ride any more
125 twist and go scooter i don't think it uses any i put fuel in it every 4-5 weeks
over all who cares it as they are toys to play on and the smiles are worth the fuel

I get 43mpg out of this without trying. The F800S I had before it did 65mpg.
Th Skoda 1.6TDI the wife runs does 54mpg since she got it, which proves the OPs point really.
18ltr tank on my speed triple. Best managed 155 miles before the light come on and was my best. Was trying for best mpg then while touring.
My current Blade: best on a17.7 ltr tank again touring. 160 miles before the fuel light came on. While touring Spain seen a moving average mph showing 52mpg at 80mph and 50 mpg at 90mph
Worst on the blade I managed 90 miles to a tank when on a run one morning. I got no idea what mpg I get on track. Never took any notice

MY GSXR750-K7 averaged 52+ mph over 40k miles, ridden daily in all weathers with "enthusiasm"
Was that a typo there, Mick? Either 52mpg or 52mpg would be impressive over 40k though
