I had two 748 (and E and a R) and they were my introduction to the world of Ducati. Both were reliable but not comfortable for long distances (once did Magny Cours to Yorkshire in one hit, it crippled me). Lovely ride, made me feel special but I wouldn't go back now. Too slow compared to modern stuff, had the rockers problems, random leccy stuff and no good for my 55 year old wrists.

I stuck with the brand though, buying a 749S, 1098S and now tootle around on a 1299S. Lovely bikes, and pretty special in a world of homogenous Jap in-line 4 stuff. The modern, post-VAG stuff is super-reliable compared to 90s.
