OK out riding. Approaching junction with queueing traffic, I'm filtering/overtaking at quite low speed. Lights have just changed to green and traffic is starting to move off, I'm planning on leaving my overtaking position and rejoin the traffic flow. My nearside (ie my direction of travel) has two traffic lanes.
Schoolkid, maybe early teens, _runs_ out between vehicles to my left which have now started to move off. I'm still in overtake position. Schoolkid runs into the back/side of my bike (as opposed to me running into the kid). I stay upright. Kid goes down... then gets up and continues crossing road!
Lady on opposite footpath, where me + now upright kid are checks out kid now admonishes me. I'm guessing from this she (that she admonished me) saw the whole thing. I ask the kid if ok. She asks the kid if ok. Kid says ok. No cuts, bruises, anything that anyone can see. No damage to my bike. No details exchanged; kid wanted to continue to school, witnesses including the lady who admonished me all seemed happy.
I was going at a speed where I could stop for normal pedestrians emerging from between vehicles at walking speed, but wasn't anticipating pedestrians running across road in now moving traffic.
Anything likely to happen? Haven't reported it since there is no damage and kid was unhurt.

Be honest your word of the day on your calender is admonished and you made this whole story up just so you could use it and seem hyper intelligent.

I would say just forget about it, no one is injured and there is no damage to your bike so even in todays no win no fee society what is there to actually claim for.

I once managed to do the same deliberately to a taxi driver, thing is I was driving a coach saw him running across & looking the wrong way so I stopped, laughed & drove off after a lovely impact noise. Yes I said deliberately, it's only fair to treat taxis in this way because of they try to kill everyone near them on the road with utterly stupid s t driving 100% of the time.

I've been T-Boned by a cat and a pheasant in the car. The cat bounced and ran, the pheasant I wasn't so lucky. I was in a NSL in traffic going reasonably quickly, saw the pheasant start walking on the other side of the road, then it's neck wound out and it sprinted across the road. It half took off then BAM - T-boned me. Sadly I had the window down so got happy slapped by the pissin' thing's wing. Nearly knocked my glasses off

Hello. It should be ok, but they may well try to claim if they can.

Ultimately, is a kid or some random woman likely to rememeber your licence plate? Probably not. Then the only way to get you would be CCTV, in which case you will be admonished once again! I think you're in the clear squire. ETA: Definite contender for best first post ever.

Plenty can and quite possibly will happen. If they have your details and a registration number expect an injury claim to appear shortly.
Injuries to pedestrians especially children rarely go in the favour of the vehicle user. In this case a witness also viewed it as your fault so your insurance would end up paying.
I'd advise you to inform your insurer if only for info. Of course most will disagree with this course of action so it's up to you.

Speaking from personal experience, unlucky. There's bugger all you can do about it. Definitely inform your insurer, if you don't and they've got your details it won't exactly reflect well upon you. Same goes for reporting the incident to the police imo, but that's your decision. In my case the child ran out from behind a bus into me, he ran off and subsequently reappeared with his mother when the police arrived (the mother blaming me of course). According to her I was going past the bus on the back wheel accelerating. (I can't pull wheelies for s**t) and was probably doing 20. I was fortunate as there were witnesses backing up my side of the story. (as a side note I got a letter from plod stating that, "They are not looking to prosecute due to lack of evidence" ) As far as I was concerned regarding the underwriter, they were brilliant, they sent a bloke out to interview me for my side of the story, as well as get all the details regarding the officers etc. (underwriters were Chaucer, the brokers however were next to useless but will remain nameless).

something like that happened to me. but the 12 yr old kid was on a bike - he came whizzing round a corner straight out into the road and wap into me and me car. I got out checked he's OK, passerby checked him, passerby checked the car, 'admonished' the kid, kid checked his bike and that was that. Almost. I picked the smart up, on impact it had rolled over into a hedge, I dusted it off and off we all went.

As far as I can see, I've got no duty to report this to the police as there was no injuries and no damage. My only worry is the kid will tell his parents, who will think £££ kerching, claim time £££££! spurious whiplash etc claim and come after me. Well if that happens, that happens; the only thing I'm then worried about is since there is now an "injury" I'll get done by plod for failing to report, even though there isn't anything to report.
Is this a realistic possiblity or am I worrying about nothing?
As I said in OP; everybody was happy at the scene and no details from anyone were requested or exchanged. The only way this will come back is if someone did write down the reg number or of someone goes trawling through CCTV footage.

Then report it, if only to the police. They don't report back to your insurer despite the urban myth. I still say report it to your insurer but you probably won't.
There is no way to defend this claim btw if it happens.

On a related note, a bus driver I know (ahem) once was pulling into a bus stop, and saw someone clambering onto the roof of the stop ready to try "bus surfing" - so at the last moment carried on another 40 ft, just in time to see the promising footballer plummet to earth. Satisfying.
