Lots of excuses. No pics. There was a thread about this by Yazza in the last couple of months. My views are well known on this. Yup. Nothing to hide! http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...Got them down a little but I'd have to be riding like an idiot to go the whole way. I was merely making a joke and it's turned into a thread derail, apologies OP.

Get a road legal enduro bike - then go green laning and do some enduros.
You've never had so much fun with your pants still on...

Make a joke on a f king 'biker banter' forum and get sad Internet gimps moaning and thread derailing. I made a joke, he took it well and made a joke about getting the grinder out which again I took well. Whats it got to do with you? Just f k off.

OP, my advice would be to try a different type of bike - i had a go on a speed triple and loved it - and try a Euro trip, which I am convinced is the best thing you can do on a bike.

You've never had so much fun with your pants still on... Supermotos do look a helluva lot of fun i can confirm this. since buying and building my own, i not only really enjoy riding it but it's also given me back a lot of interest in riding the blade as well and i suspect made me slightly better on it too. i bought mine as a cheap fixer upper and have just kept going. through traffic and on twisty back roads it's brilliant fun. wouldnt have one instead of a road bike, but as a balancer outer, it's well worth it.

Some thoughts:
Living in a country with changeable weather with a keen emphasis on Health & Safety (and fear), motor biking isn't really ingrained into the culture.
Everybody in the UK lives for the "summer", but it doesn't always come. If we were more realistic about what the summer actually entails then we may well be even more depressed than we are, though.
I've noticed that people in countries on mainland Europe appear more inclined to go without protective clothing in warm weather. If you are just pootling around town, then it's probably fair enough. Yes there are risks, but getting dressed up like an Ice hockey player just to nip down to the pub/shops is arguably excessive.
I'm not sure I'd ride along the autobahn without gloves as I saw once chap doing near Frankfurt, though...
I think that motorbiking probably needs to be integrated into life as enjoyable transport, rather than a minor (risky)sort-of hobby for the odd summer day or just for talking about -as far as I can tell, most bikes in the UK are hardly ever used.
Don't just go for circular rides. When you go to places, use the bike. Fit a rack and take things with you. Seek out the interesting routes. Learn to ride well. I see a lot of wobbly, jerky looking riders out there and a lot of crazy manoeuvres by others. It doesn't have to be some sort of terrifying adrenaline rush every time you go out.
Go touring.
Having the latest track-focussed über-bike that is far beyond the abilities of almost everybody and requires huge restraint seems pointless to me for using on the road. Marketing may influence people into wanting one, but who needs a 200bhp(or even a mere 150bhp) World Superbike contender on the roads of Lancashire?
A flat-barred bike that is quick enough and comfortable to ride makes a lot more sense to me.
Oh yes, and move to somewhere sunny with lots of quiet mountain roads full of hairpin bends with good visibility.
ps. Failing that, just sell the bike and do something else -Mountain biking on rocky technical trails is great.

They're a bit over-priced now but track down an old RGV250, KR1s (the route I took) or RS250, then ride technically much slower than on the 'blade' but every mile will have a degree of insanity in it. Great fun!

"Power Rangers are idiots who can't ride for s t, most bikes are never used. I'm better than all of them on my upright old bike." As for moving somewhere warmer. I've got property in Cyprus and I wouldn't ride a bike on the road there ever. The roads are greasy with random Tarmac and concrete and the locals are worse drivers than the tourists. Load of old tosh IMO.
