In all honestly the aftermarket exhausts weren't that much louder when idling and bimbling through town, but they definitely had a meatier note to them. Of course once they opened the taps (away from towns of course) there was a real difference  Although if the exhaust has a DB killer included that would be a bonus.

I 2nd that - I asked them to start up a MY2012 demo bike with one on at an open day, granted it was firing straight at a wall (about 5ft away) but it was loud even at startup. Loud enough for me to be questioning whether i want to annoy my neighbours that much if/when i get a STR.

Yep, I test rode a street with one fitted. Had to put my ear plugs in sharpish!
Great fun, but a liability in urban areas and a nice early warning of impending speed, for the plod.

Ive slowly come roubd to agreeing with this, Had a noisy can on my previous bike, felt like a t  t, couldn't open the throttle in town because people would turn and look, despite thinking i was a boss, most people just think shhhhhhhhh. You can ride more quickly discreetly with a quiet can and it shows consideration for other people. Trackday, yeah all the way... Bring the noise, your paying to have private fun. Nothing cooler than being overtaken by a quiet fast bike. Induction noise should always be loudest anyway.

It's not just the noise either (otherwise I'd just get some replacement slip on cans), apparently each of the Triple stock mufflers weighs as much as a small moon. So by removing those I'd lighten the bike and lower the CoG etc. etc.

Can't see any of us being able to feel an appreciable difference from shedding that much weight, certainly not on the roads! Or if you can feel the difference because you're as talented as BN, just take a s  t before you ride; cheaper, and you'd be saving weight right at the top of the bike; hence, bigger effect on CoG.

If he wants to make some noise then that's up to him. For me, aftermarket can is a must commuting. People get out of the way/give way...and at the weekend... well I like to hear the thing

I had only been riding for 3 months before I changed the cans on my Street Triple to the Arrow 3>1. Made a pretty noticeable difference! The Arrow 3>1 isn't that loud at idle. The Arrow slip-on for the Daytona is much, much louder! My friend managed to wear a flat spot on the side of his Arrow 3>1 using the tarmac at Silverstone - he wasn't crashing, just going around a fast right hander without hanging off enough/at all. If you do it get, I'd get someone else to fit it, it took me and some fairly adept friends about 5 hours to fit. If you've done any miles at all on the bike, it's a bit of a pain removing the lambda sensor from the old headers to put in the new ones. We broke it - luckily I found a 2nd hand one on eBay, Triumph wanted over £100 for a new one.

Not a huge amount, it's just a bit of a faff. From memory (it was three years ago) you have to loosen the rear subframe to wiggle the old link pipe out, and also unbolt the radiator and tilt it forwards. Even then you have a pretty awkward space to get all the new header pipes onto the engine (and new gaskets in place) and lined up. It wasn't the worst job in the world, but set aside a good 4 or 5 hours depending on how dextrous you are.

The Street Triple mufflers are about the same level of ones bowels? Plus funnily enough I've never taken a dump the about a foot and a half long and 4 inches wide, let alone two of them...

The reason there's such a difference to the feel of the bike is because the stock exhaust cans are so heavy AND so high up. Much lightness lower down = more joy.
