I tried a Doubledecker after he raved about them. Rubbish chocolate bar! Ever since then I've taken his reviews with a pinch of salt.

FWIW I did go and have a test ride after watching one of his videos - he got rid of the s1000rr and raved about the pane 899.... so figured it would be worth a bash - but I just hated the 899 - so ever since I take everything he says with a pinch of salt.

I hope the fueling isnt quite as bad as everybody reports on the Yam as I have signed up for a 2016 R1M - but there is a tuner just down the road from me - so sure they can do some magic wizzardry with flashing and ecu's and stuff I dont understand - some of the Americans on T'internet reckon they have it sorted so no real dramas there.
Didn't someone say ECU manipulation on the Yam in any way was a warranty no-no, and invalidates it?

Agreed, it doesn't know what the fk it is. With the upper whipped nougat layer you think its a sweetie, but with a lower layer of rice cripsies you think its a cereal bar.

I tried riding my GSXR down a green lane and it was truly awful, so I agree with everything he says.

You saw the "review" of the 899 and on the strength of that, went and test rode one?
Well yes I spos - I had a bit of a soft spot for a pane (had been spending lots of the work day looking at them on the internet) so yes that video tipped me over the edge to go and try one.... just sacked off work for a few hours and rode one.

It was horrible !

Not so much warranty as it just shuts down and goes into limp mode.

maybe - lets just ride it first and see just how bad it is..... will have to wait until march anyway. It'll be a second bike anyway (once I tell the wife the bm wont sell, so we'll have to keep it - well that's the plan)

I know we are all different but if the riding position is poor/extreme then that ticks this bike off my "next bike list". The 1299 is at the top but I was hoping in the spring to get a test ride. Just hope it's not as bad as they say frown I was edging by bets that I would like the R1 as it's grown on me a lot since it came out.
I've not ridden the M verson but the normal R1 has plenty of room and felt exactly like my 2004 R1.

The 1299 has really wide bars and is a touch more comfortable than the new R1

They feel like a nice comfortable double bed after riding a Fireblade
I found the blade to be really comfy and having toured on it would be happy to get a bike that is as good for all day riding as well as a blast and TD.

+1 Find the Blade the most comfortable riding position of any of the sports bikes. Especially the 2014 on as bars and rear sets are better positioned. Find my Blade far more comfy than my 04 R1 and loads more comfy than the 1198. My issues are lower back and neck, so basically anything with a pitched forward body position or very low bars is a problem. Seats that also slope down to the tank are an issue too.
Not sure how BvG reckons the R1M has an extreme riding position. When I rode the R1, which is identical to the M, it was a very natural, relaxed position. The only oddity for me was the distance to the bum stop.
Rather try one out before you take peoples word as gospel
Steve I like to get people views but would not buy a bike without a test ride first. Ever.

It's just that BVG is not the first to say the bike has a extreme riding.

I like to buy a bike that I will be happy with and that I can cope with being on all day when out with mates or touring.

Only issue that I have is the problems with my hip.
I want a sports bike but at the same time looking at something like a Multistrada if I had my sensible hat on.
But my heart says sports bikes for as long as I can managed.

I love the looks of the new R1, loved the 1299 more than I ever expected I would. And a few more I want to look at in the flesh at the NEC bike show before getting a few test rides done next Spring and see where I want to put my £££ down

Did he ever reveal why he split with his wife? I stopped watching his videos just after he had his baby and seem to have missed the split.

Also, can anyone link to what video he announced it in?

Without wanted to delve into the guys private life too much, as that's his life
But, didn't he go on a Euro bike trip with Jo Benz ? https://www.facebook.com/JoJoYammyGirl?fref=ts
If I went off into Europe with a pretty girl on a motorbike, my wife would leave me too
Unless, of course, that was his wife ?

As far as I know it's never been announced as as above no need to really.

just hope he's over any issues he faced and everyone is going to have a good christumas.

I like the guy & met, him a few times, talked to him before he was BGV on another forum. Seem's a down to earth chap

And re his reviews I would be amazed if anyone took them seriously. A review is just that, personal experience of a bike. As we are all different I would think we all feel a little different about every bike

This, as far as I think he went into it was "it's over, she's lovely leave her alone. "

Although it required me to spend five minutes on her instagram, I am unable to contradict your assertion.
On a tangent, I"ve always thought the idea of having a really hot biker girlfriend is a much better dream than a reality.
I reckon hot biker girlfriend, should be a girlfriend only, and wife should be a non biker - They don't always need to know about each other too wink
