I think it's important to run onto reserve when you have a bike with a fuel tap.
After a long time without a bike I bought an old Kwak 2 years ago, after about 5 miles and doing 70 on a DC it splutter, no problem just turn the valve. But it wasn't so simple, the fuel didn't flow and I almost drained the battery trying to start it. I think some crap had accumulated in the valve as I never had the problem again.

Re-set the trip every time.
I do 100 miles then re fill up costs about £15.00 I have a red warning light and it "should" last about 20 miles.
But i have never tried it.

Just ride it till it starts coughing then flick over the tap, then it's 20 ish miles to find a petrol station. Or trip it.
What do you get out of the TT?

I've got about 15 before chickening out. Though famously ran it out of fuel on a biker banter meet in about 4 miles!!!

Zero the trip when you fill up.
This, I do it even on bikes with a gauge.

I'd suggest a full tank, zero the trip & ride it normally till it dies again. Then you've got a max range to keep in your head before reserve. Subtract a bit from that & look for petrol after that long.

Btw - I think I just purchased the same boots as you hehe

They were the only ones which fit around my chunky calf muscles. They're not waterproof by the way.

Easy enough to find the bike's fuel capacity via google. Then once you've filled it up a few times you can work out how many miles you do per liter, and therefore how many on a tank.

Alternatively as said above make sure the tap isn't on reserve and ride until it conks out to get the tank range, then hope someone hasn't had it apart in the past and put the fuel pipes on the wrong way round as happened to a mate of mine biggrin
