Don't worry lads I was being modest.

It is true that I am the be all and end all of riding gods.

You may take your place at the alter.

The MOT guy says these are dangerous due to the wear irregularities..

They look fine to me and now they have proper pressure the bike ride beautifully...

Can anyone see if he has a point or was he talking balls?

if they are that dangerous why didnt he fail them?

they look fine to me I cant see the whole tyre though.

if they feel fine just use them.

Could it be that he was talking pish or maybe is tight on money due to the pish weather and wants to sell you some new tyres

Talking absolute st. There is nothing wrong with those.

Plenty of people who sprout rubbish work in the bike trade...

Talking ste - All my front tyres wear like that on the sides - I'm guessing as I trail brake quite a lot. Those PR3s are fine like that. If there are any high points, they'll soon wear to the correct shape now the pressures are ok.

I can't tell from the pics but are the thread blocks unevenly worn so they are higher one side of the gap than the other? That's how mine have worn, it makes then a touch twitchy in the wet as less rubber touches the floor but I wouldn't say it's dangerous. Still more grip than a 021 for example.

What I would like to know is, what is with faint line running down the center of these tyres?

I only ask because I've noticed the same thing on mine and I do make sure the tyre pressures are correct (-/+ half a psi).

I will probably get a parrot for this, but I have heard/read it is an anti-static band within the tyre. Has absolutely no effect on grip or tyre life...and probably none on static build up either.

Let the mick taking commence.

After two sets of the PR2s - which I was very impressed with - I've just put as set of 3s on my ST. Initial impression is they feel softer than the PR2s. We'll see how they cope with 3000 miles of Autoroutes and Alps.

I remember my first car going for an MOT (was a very rusty old Triumph Vitesse) and the glee that the pernicious sneery w@nkstain of a tester stuck his screwdriver into everything, slagging it off. I wanted to commit battery about his body, especially as he laughed as he failed it shaking his nasty little bonce.

The memory has come back into sharp focus with the 'engineer' who wrote this about my RT on Friday.

Do you know where your nearest VOSA station is?

Might be worth popping in there and asking them what's so dangerous about your rear tyre.

how can you have a rear tyre deemed dangerous and it not fail.

it's beyond me, if you can fail for tread and cuts in it they are dangerous they would fail.

how can you put something out that's dangerous.

My brow is furrowed...

On one level you don't want to argue with the bloke as he passed it, but as time goes on I do feel let down with myself for not arguing at the time that he was talking cobblers.... I am losing my edge.

Going back to the original thread, are pilot road 3's sport tourer tyres? Surely they won't be any good for your blade, gsxr or other thou??????

Yeah they're sport touring tyres.plenty of people se them on sport bikes but if you don't do the miles and only ride when dry makes more sense to try pilot powers to me. The new pilot power 3 seems very good.

The other issue with his comments are that the RT doesn't have head bearings as far as I'm aware...
