I'm looking for some new tyres ATM looking at Pilot power 3's but just noticed I can get Pilot Power a lot cheaper.

Anyone used them what are they like ? Worth paying the extra for the 3's since I'm slower than a snail + possibly selling my bike soon.

Get Pilot Road 4's instead.

Pay the extra for the Power 3's ... Ignore the 'pilot road' recommendations.

The old pilot powers are ok but things have moved on a bit now, the power 3s are a great tyre

Got to make the same decision - Road 4s or Power 3s.

I imagine the difference in both wet grip and dry grip is marginal, and for someone like myself, I doubt I'll ever get into a situation when I'm playing so close to the limit that the difference will be noticeable. So I think I'm going to go for the Power 3s as I'm not too fussed about massive mileage, they're slightly cheaper and I think they look much nicer too.

I've used Pilot Powers a few times on my gsxr1000 and I find them brilliant. I have not tried Pilot Power 3. For me the difference in price (£246 > £165 at fwr) means it cannot (in my world) be worth it, since I don't believe they would last 50% longer despite what others state, and I've never had a problem with grip on the standard Pilot Powers so the only possible advantage I can see would be longevity. And maybe wet grip as I do take it easy in the wet to be honest.

edit - just noticed you also have a gsxr1000k7 (I have a k8) so I would definitely recommend the pilot powers especially if you may sell soon.

Worth noting I've ridden on all the Michelin tyres mentioned ... The power 3's are better than all by some margin.

For a superbike they are the perfect compromise.

My brother just stuck a set of PR4's on his GSXR750 k9. He's a new rider and had an off and rain soaked brands hatch. Tommy Hill was following him and he said that the front end of his street triple washed out due to not having enough weight on the front.

So hopefully with all this hype the PR4's will help restore his confidence, especially in the wet.

Personally I am going to stick some Pilot Power Pure 3's on my Blade.

Currently running Bridgestone S02's and managed to get 3k out of the rear and probably have another 2k left of the new rear I put on.

I am not too fussed about the mileage I get out of my tyres. I actually would prefer to get fresh set for the new season. In fact if a set of tyres lasted me 2 seasons then that would be awesome. Nothing better then fresh rubber in my opinion.

However just written that I am sure if I was commuting I blinking well want more... lol

5.5k later my rear PR3 is ready to change, considering how I've been riding it I'd say they wear as well as PR2s. The front will do another rear with ease.

I used to get 7-8k from PR2s, but I rode slower in straight lines then.

Any deals around on PR3s at the moment? I'll need to replace mine in a couple of months.

ive done about 300 miles on the road and 2 and 1/2 track days and still loads and loads of life left in them. I will give you one thing they do wear well, im never going to destroy a set of tyres in two track days but I can see me getting about 6 or 7 out of them if I stay off the roads

I do love picking off all the gummed up rubber after a track day.

its like picking dead skin off or a scab, very therapeutic

Get more mileage with PR3's. The Q3's are worth considering also. I heard many great things about them.

That's just it I don't get a massive amount of difference... an extra 2-3k miles tops ... and the front PP3 tyre is leagues ahead of the PR3 ... I buy the PP3's for that reason alone.

depends on your riding. If you doing just dry weather riding the PP3's are fine but in any damp/wet conditions the PR3/PR4 are leagues ahead of the PP3.
