Well I've got some. Had a short test ride just to make sure everything is ok. The tyres have made a big difference to how the bike handles, it's much slower to turn now. Can't wait to get them scrubbed in.
Which? PR3 or PP3? - what did you have before on the bike for comparison?
PP3's mate.

It had a Pirelli Diablo on the front and a Bridgestone Battlax on the back before. Just what came with the bike.

Based on this thread I've just ordered a pair of PR3s for my Sprint.

Mine were quite cut up from some impromptu greenlaning I wouldn't worry, they seemed to not fall apart.

Depends how deep the cut is. If it's not very deep you should be ok.

New tyre.

If you can't see wire in it, then it's fine. Stick a bit of vulcanising solution in if your still worried.

It's not the greatest photo, but my PR3 was still round at 5.5k & bald in the centre when it was changed last weekend.

My PR3 has a few points where it looks like that. It's also had two punctures repaired on it.

I'm not even slightly worried

Has anyone tried these on a Supermoto ? ... I like the idea of quick warmup more than anything but wonder if the lighter weight of a Supermoto still works well with the PR3.

Ok, another update from me. Just had the PR3 replaced.
The tires on the 260kg VFR1200F went like this:

  1. Came with dunlops, can't remember the name. Mediocre grip, especially in wet/damp conditions. Lasted 8000km's.
  2. Had PR2's fitted, grip was much better, felt way more confident in the wet. Lasted 18000km (eek).
  3. Had the "full map", from 105hp to 170hp. Had PR3's fitted, lasted till last week at ~24000km, this with a more confident rider and a lot more power. Turn in felt a lot easier.
  4. Now have PR4's fitted. So far, after a mere 100km, turn in again a lot easier.
The PR4's have a claimed better range, as did the PR3's (which outlasted my PR2's by over 30%!).
The main thing about my PR3's seemed that they had seemingly no visible wear up until about 20000km, then the last 2000km the thread visibly "disappeared".

In short I'm a very, very happy customer. The PR3 was a seemingly perfect tyre for me:
  • Great grip and turn in
  • Very good wet/damp weather grip
  • Negligible warm-up time
  • Superb durability
They claim the PR4 is even better so I'm a happy camper smile.

The PR4 feels like a much sportier tyre when warm IMHO if that makes any sense. Also seem to warm up quicker. Both great tyres but I definitley think the PR4s are an improvement.

Has anyone found any good prices for these of late? I've seen some on eBay for £195/pair (PR3s) but wondered if anyone has any better options anywhere.

I'm tyre hunting at the moment; Oponeo are looking cheapest for me.
I have been hemming and hawing about this - I'm a Micelin fan and was thinking about the Pilot Power 3s, but the Road 4s seem to be all things to all men.

Thanks - I hadn't heard of them but they do look cheap.

Just bought a pair (PR3's) for my vfr800 from cmc in coleshill.
£207 fitted to the bike. I was pleased with that price.

If you are getting them for less than £200 that's a good price.

When I got mine last year Deamon Tweeks was the best price I found. Some local places wanted £300+ for them.

I will keep a eye on this thread as I will be needing some shortly.

I paid just over £200 for PR4's (120/70 190/55) happy with them so far but only done a few miles. Plenty more to come over the summer I hope.

I'm really in a quandry over these PR4s. There's a lot of sipes and I'm not too keen on the idea of the bike moving around if I'm cranked over on a fast bend or being a tt on a roundabout.

Anyone fitted these to a sports bike? Will these be too hard for my Agusta F4? Should I go for the Pilot Sport 3s or even the Pilot Sport 2 CTs?

Are the PR4's superseding the PR3's? I wasn't aware PR4's exist, I was going to try PR3's on my FZ1 but if the PR4's are a more current product...

Mind you, PR3's might be a bit cheaper?
