Michelin Pilot Road 3 Update...
Discussion
I've been running pr3"s since last year on my zx6r,just turned 11k miles and the both front and rear are starting to tramline and lose grip a lot, grippy enough for the road but not like a pure sports tyre,
Then again had a lad on a er6f lose the front trying to keep up on a wet morning, poor bloke

I'll be interested to hear what you think of the Bridgestone after the PR2/3's.
Like most of us who run Sports Touring tyres, I gave up on Bridgestones once Michelin left them for dead.
I've heard a few people reccomend the 023, one of the blokes on last weeks Euro trip was on them and rates them but he doesn't tend to ride that quick. I'm not expecting it to be as good as the PR3 in the wet though. When we got to the top of Grimsel pass the snow had frozen on to the sign so hard we couldn't wipe it off, but I'd not had a single twitch from the PR3s. It started to feel a little less sure of itself accelerating out of left handers towards the end but there was no tread left by then Like most of us who run Sports Touring tyres, I gave up on Bridgestones once Michelin left them for dead.
I have these on the RT. Only done around 1,500 miles on them and never really gelled with them. Had MOT yesterday and the tester tells me they are DANGEROUS!!! The tread is a bit ruffled up on both front and rear like the tyre is feathering the treads. My tyre pressures were 28psi bar rear and 23psi bar front. :scared:
I hadn't checked the pressures as they were on fitted only a month ago so expected them to be fine. They are now at factory 42/36psi and the bike is certainly handling sweetly, but have I ruined the tyres to the point of binning them or should I see how I get on? They look nearly new to me!
The RT is a lump, and so am I. Are these tyres a good fit? You guys seem to be fitting them to sports bikes.
MOT man (who was not a Michelin fan at all) says to always fit Bridgestones -023s being the best.
I'll post some pics when I get some sunshine

hose pressures are either psi or bar but not both. They certainly are not 28/23 bar. In bar they should be more like 2.7-2.9 bar.
I wrote the original as Bar (1.7 and 1.5) but didn't know waht 42 / 36 was in bar, so edited it (badly!).Clearly 28bar may be a bit hard...
just breaking in my second set this year.
god I love them, pissing down this morning I'd only done 10 miles or so on them when I joined the motorway and looked down at the speedo, I was doing 130 and didn't even realise it.
mega grip in the wet. I slowed down don't worry iam readers.

I really want to try PR3s but like my BT023s too much to move away from them. They have been very good in the wet winter commute. I've done 4 trackdays on the this year and are only just wearing out.
I know the PR3s would be marginally better in the wet but I reckon I'd butcher them on a trackday.

Hit the front brake hard at 130 mph in the pissing rain then report back on how much you are impressed with the wet weather grip.
listen we aren't all riding gods you know some of us are happy being st. Hit the front brake hard at 130 mph in the pissing rain then report back on how much you are impressed with the wet weather grip.

i'm no riding god. Any new tyre will clear water in a straight line at 130 mph.
Chuck it around some bends, get on the gas early, get it moving around and try some hard braking.
Then you will be able to tell us if they're any good in the wet.
not the pirelles I had on it before they slid about at that speed. Chuck it around some bends, get on the gas early, get it moving around and try some hard braking.

this is my forth set now I think they are great.
great in corners and braking. but sadly it was all motorways today to get my recall done.
my aye phone is broke I got that wet and my electronic fags. bds

I like how incorrectly inflated tyres make the tyres dangerous. Tyres are a personal thing, for as many people that say bridgestones there'll be as many saying michelins are better. My local tyre place still recommend the PR2's to me over the 3's. They say that the 3 has more grip but they don't last nearly as long.
