And the Aprilia BN? - I thought you rather liked that. I finally rode the RSV4 last weekend but it's been 2 years I rode the BMW so I can't compare them!
I do like the RSV4 it makes a cracking road bike.

I only had a short ride on a non-factory version. Apart from what felt like snatchy delivery low down (just not used it, I know) I really liked it biggrin

It fits me better than my GSX-R 750, I immediately cornered with more confidence and the brakes are ace. I didn't get a chance to rag it enough to get wowed by more power than the 750 (I think it has about 20 BHP more than the 750, much more midrange tho' of course). I'll happily have one!

We'll they are bigger than the CBR600RR I used to have - and it's fine for me (I'm about 5' 8"). The Suzuki just feels bigger and less wieldy - great for longer journeys tho'

They are very small indeed. Does not feel like a 1000cc bike.

I have been torn between a 2012 s1000rr and the Pannnigggaaallllee but eventually - i came to the conclusion that it has to be the beemer as every 1199 i've seen chuggs smoke and seems to have issues. BUT i agree, its much sexier than the Zim Zimmer. Maybe in 2 years the 1199 will have had time to iron out its new born niggles.

Deposit placed so HP4 should be with me early next year (and i WILL be taking it on track!)

Cant bloody wait!

Carbon or normal BvG?

Do you mind if I ask what prices your dealer have told you?

Bugger. That's an even bigger chunk of my retirement money going in 2015. Probably be an HP6 by then!

Jon - do you prefer this is to the Panigale/RSV4/ZX-10, or is it just more capable?
The S1000RR pulls the panigale's trousers down and slaps it's arse before shagging it up the bum then makes it give a blow job straight after.

Its that much better.
+1 This bike is on my shopping list. That's for sure....

Its not in the discussion right now as they are just reserving the units - not specing them up. TBH i'd live without the levers and rearsets as I'm actually a fan of the stock ones - but that carbon belly does look nice! (probably go with the upgrade as if your spending that much - you may as well spend a little more!)

ESTIMATED prices were £15k non carbon and £18k carbon. but these are not confirmed and i dont think the dealers even know yet.

No you're right we don't but i'd have a (fairly safe) bet that they're going to be more.

Enjoy it when you get it smile I can't wait, we're getting one as a demo and then to keep as a display biggrin

I'd heard 16.5 and 19 for UK prices on the grapevine but I'm sure almost everyone's guessing at this point.

I've ordered from a dealer in the US who's got no idea of pricing yet either - won't even take a guess. Apparently they're only bringing in circa 150 competition bikes and 230 of the non-competition ones to the US market, so they'll be pretty thin on the ground.

Same as the Blade basically, and I find the ergos comfier than any 600 save the GSXR.

I've ridden an I4 bike once, for about 15 min (2006 ZX6R) on the road and I didn't love it - I much prefer I3s, V2s and V4s, but the HP4 would definitely feature in my ideal 5 bike garage and i didn't think I'd ever say that about an I4 that wasn't a pre-2010 MV Agusta F4.

I do think the colour scheme is a bit 90s GSXR in some ways and that the HP2 bikes had classier colour schemes but as a track weapon it would probably be unbeatable and in that capacity the looks aren't as important

Is it really worth it though for Mr Joe Bloggs with little access to a track and living in the wet UK?
I would say that i'm the average Joe Bloggs rider/commuter - i currently ride a CBR600F4i and it's nimble enough to squeeze through small gaps when filtering on a daily basis on the 10mile hack to work, cheap to run and faster than what i'm capable of safely riding. Also it's old enough, with its fair share of war scars, to not worry about it for every minute it's not anchored down at home; especially when in the parking bay in the City (shared with ropey old scooters).

I'm not a brilliant rider and although i like to go on a ride out through some of the nice road of Surrey and Kent, i'm far from using 3/4 of the CBRs ability - oh and i've only been on a track a handful of times.
The BMW, given its technical spec would surely be best suited to the more experience riders; ones that are able to explore what the bike has to offer. It's sad to say but I can't see what i would gain from riding/owning this bike in comparison to the CBR.

I'm going to go to Williams on Sunday to investigate. My 2010 model is due for renewal so why the hell not.

Looks, wells not in the physical sense, a great bike for the money when you compare to others around.

A Panigale 'S' is 20k without options, which if you want carbon this, carbon that, etc, can soon get to 23/24k. Don't like the HP4 exhaust however supsect someone like Austin Racing or Racefit will have another system available pretty sharpish for 2-3k as doesn't look a complicated system, unlike the Panigale where there aren't any others out as yet, some 6 months after release (although understand both Austin Racing & Akropovic should have thiers out in the next month or 2).

Again, personal choice. I just don't like the looks of the BMW hence going for the Panigale. There is also rumour of an SP version of the Panigale making a debut shortly, with an R version in a year or so, but god knows what money these will be, however its safe to safe the later will be I suspect twice the money BMW are wanting for a stock HP4, and how can it be twice as good ?

Bikes are moving on which is great, but to a level which is completely irrelevant for road riding IMO. Still, good fun.

Akys Painigale is at Austin Racing as we speek, I was talking to him an hour ago and we got onto the subject of the Dukes power, we both reckon mid 160's at the back wheel as it's no faster than my 8 year old track R1.

God knows what it'll cost to get it any quicker as it's allready had thousands spent on top of the near 25k he paid for it.
