Thought it might have been Si Hargreaves on the back, but not sure

The chap on the back of the Goldwing looks like Alan Seeley, now with Practical Sportsbikes.

John Cantlie was with Superbike mag, not FB.

When you sit waiting for five minutes and get annoyed, remember John Cantlie has been captive for 1116 days

There's an e-petition done by Poppy Douglass urging Cameron to negotiate and raise the profile of Cantlie's detention.

Difficult to say whether that's a good thing or not. If Ists see that he's "valuable", it may push them the other way. All the pleas for the lives of the other guys led to a bad outcome.

That's a good point. The higher his profile becomes, the more valuable to 'them' he becomes, and that may not end well as we've seen before

I do hope his (apparent) strategy of "I'm media savvy, let me be your spokesman to the West" is a calculated game to keep him alive pending rescue.

I'm calling bullst on that shack being hit by a missile though. Looks like any stty old building site/derelict land. If it had scored a direct hit from a Hellfire I very much doubt there would be much of a $50 shack left - they've just set a couple of yoofs on that with a sledgehammer.

So he's on our side, being forced into talking for their side ?
He doesn't appear to be under as much duress as I'd have expected in that video.
I don't pretend to understand the history of this story, but is it possible that he's actually on their side and being taunted as a prisoner for some other reason ?

Stockholm syndrome could be a good shout. I cant help but think several factors, either he is a bloody good actor or he seems to actually be thinking like IS or at leasr is sympathetic to their cause another factor being he escaped and went back which isnt the normal behaviour of someone held captive.

I also appreciate having his head chopped off might be reason to suddenly become a good actor, I know I would.

He's being held captive by nutters.

If pretending like I gave a flying fk had a chance of me seeing the UK again I'd be doing it in a Rangers or celtic top shouting down with this kinda thing.

This isn't rocket science. It's called survival. You think he'd last long if he shouted "bomb these s" in every video.

He looks like he's lost a lot of weight, so unless he's watching what he eats, I'd suggest that he's not being fed properly and is doing this stuff to keep alive. His own fault to go back after the first time really, thrill seeking maybe?

As much as anything else, doing these probably gets him out and about, keeps him sane and is his best chance of being found alive.
