I should not laugh as I know how much you thought about and planned this design but that is funny as fk, you are having no luck at the moment, is there nobody down your way that can actually do a decent job of something smile
Im just unlucky everything I ever get is st or turns to st. I give up. banghead
forgot to say the pink isnt the right bloody pink as well.

its magenta, its no where near the same colour as hizzys confused

I haven't really got the money to get the job done again to be honest.

out of interest Tango, did your tea cake have any flaws with it? Some I can live with but this was rotten to be honest.

As I said the colours dont match, you can see how bad some of the detail is on it (not a complex design!) there is tiny amounts of dirt under the lacquer and in places too much lacquer (drip marks present). I guess im not being to fussy by sending it back? The guy is prepared to do it again but I just wonder how good can these paint jobs be to say a machine painted helmet.

Send it back. I'd be livid!

There were a couple of parts where the lettering on the vents didn't quite match what was underneath, the 'M' in mallow being the most obvious but painting lettering onto a complex 3D shape like that is very, very tricky so I'm happy with the result.

The rest of the helmet is flawless, the lines are sharp, the metallic is of an even depth and the laquer is like all proper laquer should be, not even noticable!

I also have a Roobarb & Custard crash helmet and the guy who did that did too good a job which sounds bizzare. If you remember the original cartoon it was really badly drawn, shakey and colours not matching the black lines etc. I wanted an equally mis-matched paint job but he did a first rate job as well.

Send yours back, tell him exactly what's wrong and make it perfectly clear what you expect and don't settle for a crap paint job.

Definitely send it back if you're not happy with it. That's useless if it has all these flaws. frown

Re the Hayden Arai, I love it but there's no way I'd be shelling out £750 for it. Maybe if you had spare cash and were a collector (seems a lot of folk are!) but not if you're paying an extra £200 over a regular RX7.

Out of curiousity what does it cost to paint a helmet roughly?

One of my ARAI's is looking rather battered despite not being worn a great deal so think a fresh paintjob would be ideal.

Well I got the helmet back tonight.

Meh, is my reaction.

Colours are right, great.

faces look better but still not great. for some reason he cant do circles.

few wee areas where the lines are a over shoot a bit.

and one kinda piss poor bit where the track sticker that was on before has been covered up so he can paint it. But the colour from underneath is coming through at the edges of the sticker.

Not to mention he now cant get the side visor cover back on. It pinged right off the second I checked the visor.

On a whole its ok but not really that good. gutting really

Why the funk did you ever pay for it then?

If I had turned over an expensive lid to get work done on it, and it came out as piss-poor as the first attempt you uploaded, there is no way on earth I would be handing over dosh!
