is there a limit to the number of passengers you can carry in a sidecar?

i see some that appear to have 2 seats in them, meaning the bike is now transport for 4 people..

could you have a 4 seat sidecar so you end up with an mpv-bike ?

I dunno if there's a maximum (I'd imagine there is, for insurance and weight reasons if nothing else!) but 'double adult' sidecars used to be pretty common.

OP you're gonna get one, aren't you??

hehe

Oh and if you have deep pockets, and a disregard for health and safety you could always get a Brough Superior outfit. The frame of the sidecar is an extra fuel tank! I've been in one and it's a bit alarming knowing you're completely surrounded by petrol hehe

The Brough badge on the top of the bar going across the top/front of the chair is the fuel filler:

sidecar law as seen on http://www.watsonian-squire.com/sidecar_law.html and as they make them they should know.

As we understand the situation, you need a full motorcycle licence in order to ride a motorcycle & sidecar combination. If you don't possess a full motorcycle licence and wish to ride an outfit on L-plates, the following information should be useful.
In order to ride a motorcycle and sidecar combination all learner motorcyclists are required to complete a CBT course before being allowed to ride with ‘L’ plates. The combination should have a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.16 kW/kg.

All full car licence holders, regardless of when they passed their test, are required to complete a CBT course before riding a combination with ‘L’ plates.

A CBT certificate is valid for two years from the date of course completion.

Learners cannot carry a pillion or side car passenger.

In order to present for a Practical Test on a combination you would either need to be registered disabled or have a letter from your doctor that in his/her view it would be unsafe for you to ride a two wheel motorcycle.

If you present for a Practical Test on a combination and obtain a category ‘A’ licence you will be restricted to riding combinations not exceeding 0.16Kw/kg for two years. After this qualifying period you can ride any road legal combination.

In other words you can ride an outfit on L-plates for a limited period of time but unless you are registered disabled or have a doctor's note, you cannot take your motorcycle test on one.

My Granddad used to have a 650 Panther "sloper" outfit in the late '60s. He'd ride the bike, Oldest son on the back (my uncle), Nan would be in the sidecar with the 2 younger sons. So there's 5 for you.
"I'm having a baby, what colour range rover do I need to buy?" my arse.
