I know it doesn't have the same style, but for the money I do think I'd have a hard time picking between these:
MVs are all about the passion for the look/sound/brand IMO. The performance isn't going to be so different from the equiv engined Jap/Italian/BMW bike. If you add up on a score sheet the benefits of anything Jap compared to an equivalent MV then Jap will always win as it'll cost a whole heap less, throw in poor dealer network coverage, expensive pricing for parts and difficulty in getting hold of them, and also the attention the bikes get in public (I have to keep half an eye on mine wherever it's parked, to make sure some numpty isn't touching it/leaning on it whilst taking a pic) and you make less of a case for one.
But, if you're in to them, then it's all worth it! They are unique machines.

The idea behind a counter rotating crank is that it rotates in the opposite direction to the wheels with the intention of counteracting some of the gyroscopic effect and thus make it turn faster.
Just this. The engine runs the opposite way to the final drive. Not a new idea!
It's also funny when a two-stroke does this without it meaning to. I once saw a bloke ride into a trials section and the bike spluttered, half stalled and launched backwards

Looks a lot better in these colours........Suddenly, 10 Grand almost seems insignificant.
Why can't other manufacturers come up with a bit more exotic styling ?

What an excellent looking thing, I've always liked naked street bikes.
Does anyone have any technical info about how the counter-rotating crankshaft works? Sounds interesting.
Marketing bo**ox to make it sound clever.Does anyone have any technical info about how the counter-rotating crankshaft works? Sounds interesting.
The crankshaft turns backwards that's all, supposed to counteract the gyroscopic effect of the wheels. MV's have always done it, Yamaha R1's do it (I'm assuming the big banger still does) I believe the M1 Moto GP bike does it too, although not 100% on that!
Had a 750F4 some time back, always steered quite nicely so maybe it works, certainly can't do any harm..

it runs in the opposite direction that the wheels spin, so looking at the bike from the right hand side the crank spins anti-clockwise.Does anyone have any technical info about how the counter-rotating crankshaft works? Sounds interesting.
Nice, everyday use and a fun road bike ... but I am somewhat biased!
A blast (literally!) on track with the stock kit being good enough for decent handling (with a 16st rider!) .. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-nKzD4COjc). This is probably on a par with my 990R performance given its lower weight but not ready to change mine yet.
