Motorcycle jeans - talk to me!

I have the Kyrano 3 layer ones with D30 armour and find them fine...just right in fact with the armour in, and on the bike

I think this is going to be a case of how close to "average size " you are ...or how close to the dummy they model them on

a bit like buying regular jeans...some brands fit you better than others

Ive got RST Kevlar Jeans and think they are great. The knee armour is a bit annoying to walk around in but are easily removable with velcro.

I find that with mine, but being in a desk job means they're ok 90% of the day.

Try Red Route as an alternative, they dont look like cheap asda crap

I've got a red route and it fits like the OP describes his. Not impressed.

Cheers for the heads up I was about to buy a pair as thought they looked quite good, will keep looking.

To redress the balance I've got Red Route jeans and they fit me well. Enough space so that they don't crush my balls when on the bike, knee armour included and are comfortable. Very warm though, and heavier than normal jeans of course.

I'm a 32"w 30"l in normal jeans from GAP, but my 32" RRs are wide on the waist so I'd drop a size when I have to buy another pair.

Try Maple jeans. Not cheap but a quality item and mine fit really well.

I have draggin jeans, they are loose on the leg,but any tighter and they would ride up and cut my vitals if sat on the bike for very long.

Mrs P has Draggin jeans and they are alot more fitted but I hate tight jeans and she dosen't.

In Bristol Fowl-ups have a large collection of Draggin jeans and some other manufacturers, the only way to see if there is a style you like and how they fit would be to get along to somewhere like this and try them on.

Thickness of the kevlar and getting the legs over your boots (the tucked inside look for jeans is naff), means they are never going to look like tight fashion jeans.

Also beware when washing if you are trying to shrink them. The washing instructions if I remember correctly say cool wash and no tumble drying as it effects the kevlar.

There are loads out there now. ..everyone is on the bandwagon with a range of bike jeans, very few are licensed to use kevlar, most are "equivalent" materials

generally the cheaper ones are single layer kevlar like material on bum and knees only, light enough and feel more like regular jeans, probably just a bit better than normal jeans because they have armour and a few seconds of abrasion resistance. lots Sub £100

At the top end they are all fully lined with multipled layers of kevlar, armour in hips/knees and feel more like chainsaw trousers. Good for 3 season use, although can be warm in summer. £150-250 here and some are CE approved, up to 11-12 seconds of abrasion resistance

I had to wait fking ages for mine as I ordered mine just as he moved production from China to the USA and all the issues that followed that.....but they are excellent.

Just a shame I'll likely never wear them for riding a bike again

OP - I have some Sartso jeans which fit quite nicely. I tried the Hood jeans on and they felt huge chunky and incredibly badly cut so I understand where you're coming from.

Do a search on this forum and you'll get some recommendations. The Draggin ones are supposed to be decent too.

I decided against jeans for exactly that reason. I have a pair of Draggin' zipoffs for use in hot weather, if I'm walking around at my destination the bottoms zip off and I'm left with with a cool (thermally, not aesthetically) pair of shorts. With the bottoms on they're way warmer than normal jeans so I'd be better off wearing lightweights with my goretex/cordura textiles over the top and whipping them off when I get off the bike.

Just got some Klim K fifty 1 jeans - really happy with them. perfect fit and just look like normal jeans. Highly recommend if you can find them (they are new - got them in the U.S.)

I have just bought some Bull-it jeans, well impressed with the quality, mind you I only paid £90 for them as SportsBikeShop (http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/204453) have got some on 'clearance' at the moment.
