My new Shoei GT Air (well, it was about 2 months ago but still not yet worn in anger)
Almost the perfect helmet unless you're a spectacle wearer. My glasses mist up really badly inside mine although removing the chin curtain helps a bit.
Good job I don't need to wear specs to ride then smile
Certainly lighter & more quality feel than my old Caberg but not sure if I'll miss the un-claustrophobic flip front.Glad it has the internal sun visor & pinlock too though.

ouch !!

I was lucky enough to get discount. Wouldn't have paid £450. If I recall Motocard online were doing my colour one for £315 ish

I have had lots of Shoei helmets for 20 years.

The chin curtain in a GT Air is restrictive, it lets hardly any air through and suffocates you.
Without the chin curtain there's a lot of buffeting.

Its a 2 layer fabric so I cut the outer layer off and its much better. A better way might be to put some brass fabric eyelets in the chin curtain.

Not a new lid but thought I might give one of these a try. Not sure if it will be noisy and rip my head off or be really useful – guess I will find out.

I don't!

Looks like Arai can't be bothered to redesign anything and just continue with their outdated range.

You're right, mine was fogging up really bad in the middle of summer til I removed the chin curtain. Useless.

Arai say they don’t do the internal sun shade as it compromises the safety of the shell – not sure if this is true or not but I take your point about the design of the visor I don’t like the release mechanism as it’s a bit fiddly and I always feel like I am about to break it.

Having crashed in an Arai Giga (remember them?) at about 120 and landing on my head I will stick with them as (for me at least) they are comfy and the work.

The rest of the lid I love so I am prepared to live with the visor – if this doesn’t work I will try a light reactive pinlock insert.

Carry another visor, simple.

I would find that design annoying and it looks a bit stty even though looks aren't that important.

Lovely design though. I love Arai and Shoei but for me personally, Shoei is quieter but Arai fits me better.

Apparently, I'm 30% deaf in my right ear because I didn't wear any ear plugs for 10 years and I wear an Arai lol.

Not very keen on the 'graffiti' look that a lot of helmets seem to come with.

Got one of these as a Christmas present to replace my tired, and smelly, S1 Pro

Other than the bluetooth being a PITA to fit, I'm impressed although I'm not sure its as quiet as the S1 Pro.

Bought this at Motorcycle Live too. Its an X-Lite full carbon fibre. It has double d ring and a great wicking liner. Came with clear visor with pinlock and sealed black visor and a helmet bag.

The thing is mega light at 1200 grammes !!! all for £265 after a bit of horse trading as we had 2.

I bought an 802 carbon as well. Got the Union Jack model. I've had a std 802 for a while, and love it.
You got a bargain at that price!!!
I'm thinking about one of these for my next helmet.

How do they fit in regards to other main brands - similar to Shoei or Arai etc?

Can't find anywhere in SE England that stock them.

My current Shoei Raid 2 fits great, may check out the GT Air if the X-Lite looks wrong for me.

Where in the SE are you?

Try Helmet City in Tatsfield, they definitely had them in stock when I was lid shopping, I tried the X-Lite carbon on (not a great fit for me though) and a colleague has just bought one from there in the last month or so.

I'm in Eastbourne, so about an hour and a quarter on the bike I guess. Might check them out nearer spring, thanks.
