Got this a couple of weeks ago for £180, with pinlock and slight smoke visor. Pretty chuffed with it. Light, quiet, very quiet with the vents closed, easy to use vent controls, and the smoked visor and pinlock is a revelation. I don't think the build quality is good enough for a £330 RRP, but it's pretty well made, and was a good buy for £180.

It just doesn't feel as good as my old AGV which was only £130, and had an RRP of just £230. The paint isn't quite as good either, you can see the outline around the clear-coated over decals, and the corner of the rear vent is missing a pin head of clear coat on the corner, meaning the paint has chipped back a little.

Having said this, the HJC interior is nicer than the AGV, the vent operation is far better thought out, and it's lighter, quieter and cooler.

Bought another one of these a couple of weeks ago after writing this one off (still smelled new!) in my accident in November. I already have three visors and a set of pads, so it seemed mad not to buy another.

£162 well spent. I may have broken my neck in my accident, but it protected my bonce well!

Bought this today, I don't normally go for helmets matching designs of Moto GP riders but this one just looks so good.

No problem mate, looks lovely. I initially wanted the black and white version but don't want another matte finish helmet.
I'm quite tempted by the new Guintoli rep, just trying to justify the cost

I really really rate it , as far as quality feel , features, lightweight and comfort go, so far, sat on the sofa ! I think it will be great in use and the Guintoli rep colours are lovely, I just don't do race rep ones, always been a white with a twist man ...so far, got a good deal at Bike Show, very impressed with the proper 4mm visors , including the proper Shark dark one, worth the extra to avoid poorer manufacturing quality and inherent distortion , vision is perfect out of this, and God knows I need every bit I can get with my old corrected wonky eyes !!wobble

Yeah I normally wouldn't go for a race rep either, I'll see if I can find some to look over.
Thanks for the review though, sounds like a quality item

My Shark Race R has arrived:

I was always tempted by the Race R Pro Carbon like hebegb's, but this was less than half the cost and I need to be (relatively) sensible.

Suomy

A brand you tend not to hear of these days. A real shame.

Yep. Some of the best graphics/colour schemes on the market in my opinion. Shame you can't see them in the shops. Ordered it from FC Moto.

snap, I have the same Race-R pro carbon ...on offer at fc-moto over the last couple of months, £310 ish compared with £500 in most places

A really nice helmet, on part with the best of the Jap brands for hundreds less

I've just bought one of these after several years wearing Arais, very pleased with it, it's a good quality bit of kit:

Is it possible to get road legal tinted visors in the UK? I thought they were illegal?

Light smoked ones that let at least 50% light through are legal

You'll be very unlikely to get a tug for a dark visor in daylight hours.

The Shoei above has a flip-down dark visor built in - saves keep swapping them! Works well.

As above, I've never had the slightest bit of interest from BiB over a dark visor
