Enjoying Schuberth C5 life 👍

Now a few weeks in from the pic and it’s great for commuting - the functionality with flip front, flip down sun shade, lighter weight than my previous helmet and lower noise levels make it a pleasure.

Haven’t noticed the vents so much but I’m
not overheating at 27 degs air temps in stop start traffic, so they must be working well enough.

The integrated intercom works well - tho I did get deals on both.

Noticed this on Crash.net following Nakagami taking out Bagnaia’s Ducati in a face to back wheel incident at the last motogp:

“Fortunately for Nakagami, his Arai helmet soaked up much of the brutal impact with Bagnaia’s rear wheel.

“This morning I saw my helmet. It's really, really bad. I really, really, appreciate [being] alive because they [Arai] saved my life. And also I totally remember everything. So yeah, it was super nasty, but the Arai helmet helped a lot.””

And the crash:

On track, I will wear my RX-7.

Really wanted an X Spirit 3 but it wouldn’t fit my head.

Tried an RX-7V EVO but also didn’t fit.

Ended up with a HJC RPHA-1

FIM approved in case I ever get a MotoGP ride biggrin

And what makes you think a Shoei or other brand wouldn't have achieved the same level of protection ?

When I first started going to track days I bought an Arai RX-7, probably about 2008 maybe. It literally fell apart, the side pods broke off very easily, the visor mount broke and one of the vents came loose - can't remember the exact details now but I swapped to a Shoei which fortunately was a much better fit and so far, after maybe 4 or 5 Shoei helmets including an X-Spirit, nothing has ever broken and the quality is only improving.

Even if Arai fitted me, it would take a lot to make me buy another Arai, having experienced Shoei.

Had an Arai since I started riding years ago, probably on my 4th one now. Have needed to rely on them in road accidents and track ones, done their job and my RX7-V for trackdays still looks as it should. But it needs replacing due to age.

Looked out the receipt from 6 years ago £549. Current equivalent RX7-V £799 !

I wear a C4 with the integrated coms and it’s a very good helmet, reasonably quiet and as you say the integrated tinted sun shade is really useful.

Had this for about a year now, Scorpion Exo-Tech Carbon, comfortable, really light due due carbon fibre construction and a huge plus is that the chin bar rotates to the back of the head a la Roof Boxer etc, so you can ride open faced without a huge air brake stuck up above your head!

Keep an eye out for deals, I got a grey rx7v fim for 500 a while back, a white rx7 was even less.

Only last week I was looking at one of these. It's a shame sportsbike shop wouldn't match the cheaper price I could find online as it was in Europe biggrin How do you find for "national" speed limit noise?

Noise wise I've always been an earplug wearer but with my Howard Leight rhubarb and custard plugs it's fairly quiet, plus I can happily stream music at a 130kph cruise on the Autoroute through my Cardo Freedom 4+ headset with little obvious external noise so I'm happy with it

Mine arrived from sportsbike shop on Friday. It's a good fit and fairly quite for a flip lid. Quite impressed with it for the money beer

Always liked this design of NXR. Good deals to be had at the moment on them too.

When I needed a new one they didn't have my size, so bought another Shark. This is a Spartan RS, meets new 22:06 regulations so should be decent in a whack.

Ps: Your Lidl joke made me chuckle hehe

That shark looks great, but am struggling to see where the design ends and the reflection starts. smile

I bought my helmet when I purchased an electric blue bike, now I have to choose a bike to match the helmet. Fortunately it goes ok with my 90’s CB400 Superfour

Any feedback on this please? Comfort, noise, pinlock etc? Thanks
