Hello BB!
Recently my magazine subscription to Ride ran out and I was wondering what(if any) bike magazines you read? was always a fan of Ride for their great kit reviews but find I don't tend to read half of the magazine because it isn't all that exciting. regularly look at bike news online to keep myself up to date but nothing beats paper in your hands!

I've never bothered it's Ride as after having a flick through a few issues I realised I do not have a large enough beard and am not nearly old enough to be their demographic.

Bike magazine is pretty good. Their features are usually quite interesting.

Performance Bikes is good, provided you are interested in performance bikes. They tend to do their own thing as opposed to the most magazines which all report the exact same tests every month. Their technical features are also quite interesting, and their project bike stuff I usually pretty good (I've enjoyed their series on turning a T955 triumph into a race bike).

Ride if you have a beard and ride a tourer.

Bike if you have a beard and like sensible bikes.

Practical Sportsbike if you have a beard and like 70s/80s sports bikes.

Fast bikes if you are a chav.

Performance bikes if you like quick stuff from 90s onwards and like to get your hands a little dirty.

I subscribe to PB and PS.

I get superbike and ride and evo although not bikes all Subscribed on the ipad so they all just download when the new ones out.
I used to love having my old magazines all boxed up waiting for that day when i might need one of them...only to have to recycle them all once i got a few boxes full. No need now. And i can read them in bed without having a light on and thus not getting punched by the mrs

They all look the same in that mag. All black and all have a puddle of oil underneath them

Yep. They're more about the engine design than what colour the plastic is.

Hmm, I always felt that Ride was aimed at the "fairly new to bikes, don't have much of a clue, please patronise me" reader.

Bike is usually my mag of choice as I feel it goes a little more in depth and is generally better written.
My biggest moan is the constant arse-licking of Charley Boring and Nick Flanders for their "wacky round the world adventures" and their general selling of the GS as the best bike ever built.

Practical Sportsbikes is the rose-tinted world of "they were way too expensive for me when I was a teenager but now I'm old enough to afford one I have to convince myself that they're not actually crap."
And generally, by the time the reader has bought their ideal project bike and managed to get it safe enough to actually ride in a spirited manner, they would have been better to buy a 10 year old CBR anyway.

But that's just me...

I get my dads hand me down "bike" mags, always good to get a family member a subscription for a present that you can use after them, I learned this from my dad so returned the favour.

Its pretty good in the spring to summer months, lots of stuff I find interesting (sports bikes etc) come winter its fking grim. Im through the mag in 30 minutes or so. just all touring pish, GS's everywhere.

used to read a boy from works ride years ago and it was ok but I wasnt really into bikes then.

the few copies of performance bikes ive read have been pretty good, think im going to start getting that see what its like.

I used to subscribe to CAR (christmas present that my dad read bloody first) and it was ok for a few months but after about a year it just seemed to repeat itself and became a bit boring. Loved the long term tests though.

Any bike mags out there that do long term tests?

I read Bike, PB and Motorcycle Sport & Leisure. Gives a good broad range of features, road tests and prattling about on bikes.

Then borrow the classic mags off my old man.

Moanthebairns - those first 3 I listed all have long term bikes in them. Think the mags are about to receive their new fleet.

Ive read the "BIKE" bikes bit but theres not much to it. They seem to just mention an oil change or pad change nothing in depth, which is a shame.

Think ill start buying PB then.

PB looks like the popular choice then, surprised to hear no one reads MCN. I've read fast bikes a few times and all they ever seem to talk about is carbon wheels
