Way off topic, but I was at the F1 test at Jerez yesterday.

Behind me there were a group of Spanish guys clealy taking about Moto GP. I don't speek much Spanish but one bit went

da-di-da di, Lorenzo, followed by

da-di-da di Nanny Macfee

Having just looked at some images of Nanny Mcfee, I have not a clue who they might be refering to.

Any one here know?
Hmmmm.. Interesting..

Can't you enjoy the prospect of having 4 bikes battling at the front?
So many people have complained the championship was dull over the last couple of years with 3 guys battling it out, what difference does it make whether its 4?

Or is just because its Rossi, certainly seems that way to me.

Would people still be as enthusiastic if Stoner had stayed and Rossi retired, it would still be 4 fighting for the title?

Shame Stoner didnt hang around to make it 5, perhaps that would have been something worth watching.

Personally i hope Danni wins, boring a character as he may be (which doesnt bother me, i watch for the racing not their personality), i cant help but marvel at how such a little chap manages to muscle something like a motogp bike around which in essence just wants to spit you off at the first corner! But whoever wins, i hope we some racing up the sharp end, not just one guy with considerable more pace at any given track.

Marquez a future champion but not this year i think.

The guy who made "that pass" at Catalunya or pulled out a second a lap over the field on a V5 Honda with no rider aids at Philip Island.
They were testing rider aids on the 500's... Not sure where this idea that the 990's had no rider aids comes from? Certainly not the levels we have currently, but they existed already.

It was the same for all of the manufacturer teams, so not to diminish what was probably Rossi's greatest ride so far as all had the prototype systems, but they existed. It's not a phenomena of the last couple of years ...

You have a problem with everything I ever type laugh

Yes TC was around in testing, but the RC211v didn't race with it in 2002, it had selectable power modes like a modern GSXR uses. Primitive TC was used in 2003 but a lot of the riders (including Rossi) didn't like it's intrusion and often killed it altogether. It wasn't really until the advent of the 800's that the sophisticated modern systems came to the fore.

So, yes they existed, I wasn't expecting my every word to be analysed quite so thoroughly.

He quit while he was ahead. He's won the championship twice, and was never really in it for the glory. He can leave now with his money, 2 big trophies and all limbs in working order. Sounds like the best idea ever.

Rossi lives for the glory of the win, the adulation of the crowd and will find it hard to give it all up. I don't think Stoner was particularly fussed about being the most popular man on the track, he just wanted to be the fastest.
LOL... Come on, Rossi loves the sport and loves testing himself, anyone who wants to criticise him for that.... Well, thats up to you.

Stoner was a fabulous rider but I'm not sure what he was driven by. Its such a shame he became so bitter and resentful of everyone. The picture you paint is that he was only in it for the money? I'm not sure if they can really compete at that level for money alone, maybe ultimatly thats why he spat his dummy (shame though it is).

Another very close day today.... I'm hoping that Pedrosa isnt going to be away at the front (I think that the most likley threat to a close season)... Here's hoping theres at least 4 in the battle.

You're jumping to too many conclusions chap.
I'd love there to be 6 of them at the front (or more). Yes I like Rossi, but no more than any of the others. Stoner came across to me as a bit of an a**e, but I loved watching him race, he was fabulous and I wish he was still in the sport. Pedrosa was the class of the field last year and I have a nagging doubt that him and the Honda might clear off and leave us without the tight races we want.... But I'm not giving up yet.

[quote]Teammate Rossi continued to go from strength to strength having been reunited with the YZR-M1, the Italian again improving on his time from the day before by nearly half a second to finally dip under the 2’01 mark and finish in third place just over a tenth of a second from teammate Lorenzo in second.

Rossi seems to be getting the hang of it....

Well I'm putting 20 quid on Marquez or win the championship.
Although I'm also thinking of sticking a tender on him to win the hand bike race at the 2016 Paralympics.

Love it! All other crap aside, shots like this are why I respect each and every rider on that grid for their talent, commitment and raw speed. Whether it's the guys at the top or the Petruccis and Abrahams! Awesome.

Love how much everyone reads into the early test single lap times...

Can't wait for the season to kick off. The shots of Rossi sliding and Marquez practically getting his chin down above are a welcome relief to the seemingly endless winter nights!

How does Rossi stay motivated and at the top of his game? 12 years in Moto GP (not including 125's, 250's), 9 titles 2 pants years on the Ducati jumps on a Yamaha no doubt worrying he's not going to be fast enough and finishes 3rd quickest....brilliant!

Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa are at the top of their game as were the season finished, I'd love Dani to have a great season he deserves some luck.

MM will respect no-one he fessed up Rossi was/is his idol growing up but you can bet he won't give anyone an inch.

Such a shame Casey has gone, just seemed mentally not strong enough to cope, but phenomenal to watch.

Looks like he's lost nowt, if the test had been 2 or 3yrs back I would have expected him to be in the same position he is now.

Obviously my comments haven't come across as intended. I don't think any of the riders are in MotoGP for just one reason (whether it is money or glory or whatever)
Rossi is a fabulous rider. He loves racing, loves pushing himself and a bike to the limit, and loves to be loved by millions of fans and being in the media. I think (opinion) that Rossi loves the whole show so much that he will find it hard to retire.
Stoner is a fabulous rider. He loves racing, loves pushing himself and a bike to the limit, and doesn't seem to enjoy being the centre of attention and doesn't see the point of embracing the media. I think Stoner loved to race, but hated all the associated press/interviews/PR stuff. He retired when his love of racing was outweighed by all the "politics" and PR baggage that comes with it.

Vale loves bikes, he loves racing. If you followed his Twitter postings over the winter, he was running a 30 or 40 strong dirt/speedway/dirtrack sliding school with his mates and a lot of fellow MOTOGP and upcoming racers, in freezing fog, rain etc.

Not just a special racer, also a very special guy, I do not think we will ever see him leave the paddock.

Yep he is generally into anything racing which involves petrol, engines and going fast.

Amazing really that people go on about Rossi vs Stoner when Rossi has been racing Biaggi, Gib, Cap, Lorenzo, Pedrosa and Stoner and is still up there. Remarkable.
