Aldi Motorbike gear specifics now up, the jeans I paid £29.99 for last year (slightly different i'll admit) are now £50 - not sure they're worth that?

They're CE-marked, I guess for armour, but they don't mention any kevlar or similar? So, fine for impact but not abrasion?

Aldi says "Reinforced with terry knit lining". Never heard of terry knit lining but a search suggests it is a sturdy type/weave of cotton and some places will sell you safety cloths with terry knit and aramid. You would've thought Aldi would say if it used aramid though, so I'm going to assume they don't and therefore it's just denim jeans with a bit of padding.

They seem to be saying the whole garment is CE certified which if true makes them a bargain. I've emailed them to see if they're willing to provide the proof from SATRA who apparently carried out the testing.

Thank you for contacting Aldi Customer Services regarding on motorcycle jeans.

We would be unable to provide the information requested at this time.

Please accept our apologies for any disappointment that this may have caused.

We value your custom and hope you continue to shop with us.

Can't/Won't provide anything to back up their certified claim.

The ladies jeans say they are...

Material: 100% Cotton shell, 100% Aramide lining

...which I guess means that the mens aren't frown

Edit: Just spotted there are two types of jean, one of which is the same as above so I'll shut up now...

They appear to be genuine.

ETA: dunno if my local store will get these in - they close for a week for a refurb on the 1st April.

Will look forward to trying it out with next weeks super weather smile

Not overly keen on the Aldi bargains but will keep an eye out for the chain lube for sure.

Got these from eBay for my commute. For £25 they are a bargain. Unlikely to rival a Sena for sound quality, but they are perfectly fine listening to the Front End Chatter podcast on my journey to work.

Seems to be 2 versions. I have seen a version where a double tap of the central button activates Siri, which would mean you can voice dial, call up a play list etc. A double tap on my set switches to FM radio.

Instructions say they can connect to a nav unit, so I would guess they could. Not got nav so can't be sure. For £25 or thereabouts, probably worth a chance.

Agreed, although can't complain for the money.

The one "feature" that seems to be missing is a zippable pocket inside for things that you don't want flying around... such as a phone.

+2

It'll do but it isn't great, be handy for the odd occasion I'll need it but I can only wear it with my textiles as my hump in my leathers gets in the way.
