I'm intrigued, why did you buy a 200cc bike?
I am 18 had passed my test 2 days ago (at the time of buying), didn't have a 125 on L plates and don't have a car license. This is the first vehicle I have had. I wanted a fairly new bike but I didn't want to get one and restrict it because I would rather gain experience on something lower powered being I had only had the few hours you get in training for your test road experience.I then found out about insurance, I wanted fully comp because of the likely hook of me dropping it being I have no experience. However the insurance on a 2009 Ninja 250 was £2000, a CBR 250 the same even an R125 was £1100. Those and the Duke 200 were realistically my only options so I went to the KTM dealership to look at the Duke 200 with the thought of if KTM insurance will quote me less than £1100 I will buy one, they quoted me £805 so I bought one new.
I intend to upgrade in 2 years when I am 21 to something like an R6, I will have 2 years no claims, be 21 and my bike will be very close to the end of its finance so I can use it as a fairly large deposit.
Hope that answers your question

Hi guys, long term lurker! I was looking into this bike for when I pass my test but it doesn't meet the power to weight ratios on the new A2 licence rules. KTM say you would need a performance reducing map for it to be compliant - where's the fun in reducing performance!?
The remap is free from the dealer and reduces power by 1.5bhp. Hardly a big deal is it. y2blade said:

Looks great, does it come with orange wheels.
?? They are orange in the review."looks great (Clearly I haven't even looked at it though)"
You Gotta Love this place at times.
Alright smartypants !
Check what colour the wheels are against the pre release pics,it looked great wit h orange but is delivered with black which i later found out.
Bit like cars on the tv ads with great looking blacked out windows but when you try to order one....sorry sir not legal in this country but you can have mild tints for an extra grand.

You have to wonder why they didn't sell it with the EU-approved reduced power:weight ratio and then offer a 'tune-up' kit...I'm going to have a wild guess that no one at KTM was fired over that incident
