675 SUPERBIKE versus a lowly little VW.

Amazing how a couple of words can change the complexion...

This 'car goes round corner faster' needs a bit of conditioning. Remember the actual arc scribed by a bike in 360 degrees will be probably 25 feet less ( 4 feet times 2 times pi ) as the bike 4 feet slimmer. So it cam afford to be a bit slower at the apex etc.

Also, the braking efficiency of a car may feel more decelerative than a bike but I seem to an article in fast bikes (when it was good) where Thunderace was pitched against a Dodge Viper and the braking from 100mph to zero was within 3 feet.

All this is valid when speaking about GT cars, but of course the whole lot is in the bin when you talk about powerful single seater with aero. They will be faster than any bike, but they can not used on the road...

Right, that is all I am saying on this as I have a foot in the racing car camp and superbike camp. I don't care about the physics, I just KNOW how much money you have to spend to make a car anywhere near the speed of a bike. Then factor in the skills needed to ride / drive and the bike always going to win. Only reason supercar drivers don't have bikes is they are chickenst wussies. If they own a bike and a supercar, good on them :tu

The decelarative speeed diferential is much greater and in favour of the car, a car will stop so much faster 3ft just does not mean anything its the 100-0 the bike needs its arc set and cannot late brake etc and it really does not matter if the car slides a bit life threatening for the bike rider though, the arc means nothing its rubber on the road and grip,a good car will beat a good bike round the twistys....it really will.
Ive beaten many bikes on the track in a variety of cars (though the bikes do have there sweet spots)

7min 10 seconds through traffic on an 8 year old R1 with a normal bloke riding it.

Lets get a racer on a road legal road bike to beat the car record.

That was bridge to gantry tho. Add about 25 seconds for a comparison to a full lap? Still impressive tho.

The best thing about the whole day was that there was so much mutual respect among everyone.
And that to me is what being a petrol head is all about.
