On the few occasions Ive raced in a fast 911 on a track (albeit not against 200bhp variety) against R1,Blade 916 etc the car has destroyed the bike, some of which depending on rider are so slow round the twistys.
I never would have belived it until I tried, straight line bike wins, unless you can get to around 150 plus at which point the car usually wins.
Oh fk. Here we go. Again.......banghead

Indeed! hehe

Lets just get the cars/bikes on the runway and let the results speak for themselves

I'm not trying to alienate people, I'm expressing my opinion. Sure stick someone in a drag at and I'm sure it takes a lot of skill not to crash and burn. Stick someone in a road car and it doesn't take any to go fast in a straight line. I stand by that comment.
And I stand by my agreement.

Oh please do we have to all be keyboard hero's...............

Considering I have no wife then it's definately me typing.
As the guy's who've been and done it are telling you, it ain't that easy getting every last mph out. Yes I agree roundy roundy does need more skill but thats not what's being discussed here is it.

I've been and done it so has Phil, we do know what's involved. If you think 500+hp with just one driven wheel is easy then feel free to build one and have a go.

Yup I'll be bringing a turbo ZZR14, not the race one though as it ain't road legal!

I'd much rather show what I can do on the track not the keyboard :-)
Peace guy's as we're all here for the thrill of speed ain't we?

I said not in a sraight line didnt I,just compare lap times cars on a circuit ARE quicker everybody knows that,I was swatting bikes away like flies round the Nurburgring literaly driving round them on the bends its true it is.laughlaugh

To qualify I have had bikes for 25yrs still have a Ducati, for me the cornering speeds and late braking of the the 911 and the 500 Griff when around the country lanes make them noticeably quicker, sure the bike has more get up a go but a loon in a car will beat a loon on a bike 9/10 IMO,there are always exeptions Im talking like for like.

As a loon in both I agree of sorts. A car will always be faster on track. Less so on the road unless you're using all of it.

Thanks srob smile
I've always been interested in fast cars and even had one leave me on a certain (closed) motorway when I was on an unfaired ZX9R. Boy there's some quick cars out there bow
I regularly help out at Ten of The Best but we've never been able to stage side by side events, this I am soo looking fwd to.

To get near a *fast* bike on the 'Ring, you need a well driven *fast* car. I'm sory, but most 911s don't count, neither does the Griff. I very much doubt you were doing a sub 8 min pace on a TF day in either of the cars mentioned. Speak to either Dale Lomas @ BridgetoGantry.com or Brendan Kierle @ SlidersGuesthouse and see what sort of reply you get!

Who cares if its hard to launch or not.

Lining up against enzo's, zonda's, or whatever else turns up sounds like a fun afternoon out.

Gary11 you've obviously never owned a bike that's the issue.....A well ridden bike would mince your mind in how quick they can be ridden around corners its not the bike which let you swat them like fly's tis was the riders.

Straight lines are incredibly boring. As much as i like motorbikes they cannot do anything other than go fast in a straight line and overtake better on country lanes.
Otherwise are just noisy, cold, wet machines transporting men around in leather who have a natural death wish.

You do know this thread was started by people driving cars in a straight line?

Ignore him Loon he's just one of those "I would get one but my wife/girlfriend won't let me". Or the normal "How fast does it go" types.

Limited knowledge other than reading Evo magazine.

You're pretty much on the ball. She wont let me have one. I really want another bike. But they are in two worlds. Ive raced my friends and i know where the car is quicker and where the bike is quicker. I should step away from this. Im jealous i dont have (not allowed) anything above 125cc and dont have anyrhing with four wheels that i would feel i would have a hope in hell of keeping up with i a straight line. Im out....
