I wish someone had delimited those ZZRs...
There were two ZZR's, mine and Ian's turbo'd one. Mine is restricted, I bought the full power kit as instructed by Ian but unfortunately he told me to get the wrong one hehe There wasn't a lot more that I could get out of my bike given that it was only a mile and a short run off afterwards. The derestrictor allows the bike to go past 186 which it did (with the help of a tail wind) but I would not have got much more anyway.

If anyone wants a brand new ZZR1400 derestrictor that has been taken out of the packet once and not fitted I have one wink I'm going to buy a Muzzy's one from the US and then hopefully have another go somewhere else.

Ian's turbo ZZR should have been listed because he did us proud irked
Lol, unlucky mate, still I'm sure you'll get your money back.

Sounds like many a journo was exaggerating when they said the ZZR feels like it can hit 186 with "a gear to spare" then!

I'm mega impressed. I had no idea they were so fast, my hat goes off to you for the wet performance as well.

Regardless of who was the fastest those bike times are very impressive considering the wet conditions!

I think you guys well and truly fought our corner. clap
Aye!

Still a bit miffed the fastest bike isn't on there though. As I was hoping bikes weren't being invited as fodder for rich guys in outrageously modded cars to beat, and the fact we had a bike there representing us that isn't on the list makes it look like my first thoughts were correct.

Though of course there could be a perfectly reasonable explanation but where's the fun in that wink

Thanks Prof, it may be not much of an event for the younger generation but I found it quite challenging to be honest yet all you have to do is open the taps right? eek

If you look at the run I did on video, that was the very first time up the runway, and to be honest I backed off at an indicated 160 (clocks) because truthfully, I bottled it boxedin my brain was seriously sending survival messages to my body to slow the fk down, "risk of sudden death imminent" laugh Obviously once I had a word with myself about being such a large pussy I went back and repetition bred confidence.

Regarding the performance of the bike, don't forget a mile comes up very quickly and the run off was quite short. The ZZR could effortlessly achieve faster speeds on a motorway (but never would for all the obvious reasons) due to plenty of space. The ZZR is relentless in power in any gear it pulls virtually the same but over 170 things slow down due to aerodynamics so you need more space. Phil (with the 600hp Hyabusa) gave me some great advice namely to tuck in as tight as you can hugging the tank as much as possible, and ensure that your elbows are tight against your torso.. this was excellent advice that gave me more speed.

I did 4 runs all recorded at 181 (my satnav gps reading) so was consistent but it was quite hard to break the extra to 182 - yet only 1 mph. This was achieved by getting it all together and that was a combination of breathing properly - left my pin-lock behind which was silly, so visor misted up and believe me you don't want that when you're full chat going flat out in the wet at 170 plus hehe I also needed to start with as little wheel spin as possible (hard), opening it up through the gears by feeding it in to prevent wheel-spin (hard), and then tucking in tight with your body, head, elbows and leaning forward all the time to make yourself as streamlined and front heavy as possible. A slight alteration to any of the above seriously reduces your top end speed and you then have to work back up to where you were.

In a car? hit launch control and mash the pedal. Thanks for the positive comments biggrin

Me too Yazza! But in all fairness the GTR lads were good fun and supportive of our madness and it was the supercar organisers that did not give a reason or the data to us. I guess they had their hands full with a lot of organising to do and in all fairness we were invited by Andy free of charge. As the saying goes it's not all about the winning (we drew we knew that and so did they) but more so the comradery. I had a good chat with Saucyboy and a few others and they were all entertaining personalities just enjoying their toys. The collective 'They' are up for it again so plenty of time to get a re-match going. Come along mate!

Oh and thanks Andy thumbup
