New series started last night.

Restoration is a Moto Martin.

He is absolutely, unutterably insufferable. Why give all the camera time to a moron like him, rather than the genius but still charismatic Allen Millard??

I felt the Motorbike Show had gone off in recent years, mainly due to ‘Pete the Restorer’ no longer featuring.

However, I thought last nights show was excellent. I for one think Henry Cole is an excellent presenter.

Henry Cole’s whiny voice makes the show almost unwatchable for me…

Because he owns / produces the show

I'm not sure I could watch Allen for all that long, a great engineer but not a great presenter

Same, it sooo weird. Off 'presenter mode' he talks normally. Then as soon as he's back in presenter mode his voice goes up and down like he's reading a children's book. So very odd, and really hard to listen to.

I could watch hours of Allen Millyard, but he could do with a presenting buddy. He needs to have his own show fronted by someone equally as geeky like James May. I'd watch that all day.

Conversely, I really like Henry Cole - he is who he is and doesn’t seem to pretend otherwise. We wouldn’t see any bike content on vaguely normal tv if he didn’t do what he does and his chums seem pretty sound which is normally a sensible guide.

How do they film the road trip ?
I thought at first he was following closely to a camera vehicle but then the camera panned round and there was nothing in front of him so presumably they used a drone....but then when he pulled out for an overtake how did the drone operator know what was in front to be able to swerve around it ?

Not saying he's an idiot or anything, fair play, he seems like a genuinely nice guy. Just hate the uppy/downy voice parts.

Yes - exactly that. You have expressed it far more eloquently than I did.

I simply have to turn it off when he’s in ‘presenter mode’.

I'm glad/not glad laugh that you pointed that out, now that you've said it I can't unsee it! I can't for the life of me work out how they are doing that, it's very clever whatever it is.

You can see the camera mount/boom reflecting in the headlight surround.

Got to respect HC for bringing an entertaining show to the masses; got to admire him more for selling various 'going through sheds to flog stuff' themed programs to the TV stations.

Have never heard a GSXR called a GeeZee though .....

I agree. The fact is Henry Cole is a genuine motorcycle enthusiast who makes some great programmes. clap

I think Henry Cole is great. There's an interview on youtube of Alan Millyard where he says that he and Henry have worked on some videos.

Still infinitely better than when they had Jo Brand narrate a series of Shed and Buried.

I do find him a bit cringy but he's watchable enough. He seems to try a bit too hard when interviewing people, as if they all have a good laugh when he's buggared off.

I find he has a unique ability to make even the most exciting subjects sound extremely boring. I've no doubt he's a real bike enthusiast but his programs are to biking what I imagine a programme presented by an anorak wearing train spotter would be to trains.

As mentioned it's all done by a camera fixed to the bike on a selfie stick. 180 degrees lenses front and back, and some clever software that hides the selfie stick, and you get a flawless 360 degree image from a floating camera.

Not too bad first ep. He does a good job of channeling the drooling idiot looking in the motorcycle shop window in the early 80s.
At least this resto is a step up from the horrible rainbow chopper and the crappy honda 750 race thing he got phil read to pretend to like.
Hope there is an ep where he turns up at pal garners hideout and trying to get him to answer the doorbell lol.
